BF/GF team heading to millington, TN 2/2/15

Hey guys,

My girlfriend and I are headed to the academy in millington feb. 2nd.
We're really excited to start a new career, I come from a family with 2 O/Os, both flatbedders. I will be a third generation trucker on my dad's side and threw straps for him for about 5 months. Have been to about 23 states, I know trucking isn't all peaches and cream, I expect to work hard and get where I want to be experience wise so I can get a good paying job. I have no delusions that swift is the best paying company, however they will take us and they have better pay than some other training companies.

She is newer to trucking, we both already got our permits "the old fashioned way" so we only have three weeks of school in millington!

Looking forward to hearing from other swift drivers! Will try to update this thread throughout since there are virtually no teams posting in the swift forum.

 

I appreciate it, we're good though. We made sure to get our permits less than three weeks before we left so that wouldn't be an issue.

As far as I know, the only paperwork we need is our long form physical and out permits

 

Ok, first update:

Pre-school just yet, but we've gathered all our required paperwork up and packed our bags. Tomorrow night will be my last shift at my manufacturing job after giving my two weeks notice two weeks ago.
Found out my shift supervisor here knows someone at a local LTL that pays hourly and told me once I get the experience I need to contact him and he'll see what he can do to get me in!
He also said I could use him as a business reference.
Just goes to show you what doing a good job at a place and doing right by them when leaving will do for you.

We leave saturday! Unfortunately for us the only bus schedule that fits swift's time schedule will have us lay over for something like 17 hrs in atlanta....but I remain positive. It is however sad that swift would rather have us layover in a terminal for 17 hours than pay for an extra night in a hotel that we end up paying them back for..

Never the less! I will say I have absolutely no complaints about the recruiting process and our recruiter Cindy has answered any and all questions we had.
