Orientation in Gary Indiana

    I will be attending orientation in gary this coming monday..I attended swift training last year but never went out with a mentor due to some personal family issues but now I am ready..a little excited and really nervous at the same time. .I have been out of the training truck for almost a year and swift was gladly to take me back and I am very grateful for that...so I come here on this forum to get some needed advice from experience drivers as well as rookie ones from swift. ..all advice would be helpful and appreciate. .

    Don't assume Gary is the cat's meow of terminals.

    I guess they did me a favor yesterday, though.
    I drop my mt and head in to the shop to get a bit inspection done on my truck. When I get my truck back an hour later I go back to my trailer.
    Nope, it was gone.

    I searched every row twice, then checked out the trailer shop. It was there.
    A yard dog had snatched it up and brought it in to have skirts installed.
    So I parked across from the door and waited until it was pulled out and parked. I didn't intent to lose my mt.

    So now I'm on a Sears load, near Battle Creek, MI at a Love's.
    A bit too much time on this load so I've got a VERY long break before I deliver the first stop tomorrow at 1000.
    A bit too much time on all loads this past week. Next Tuesday won't see a very good paycheck.

    First bad week in the past month, however, so I'm not too unhappy about it.

    Yes gary is a bit scary in some parts but I've seen worst in some parts of chicago ..plus its not like ill be site seeing after orientation is done lol even thou there is a strip joint next to the hotel lol

    First day of orientation in the books physical drug test and to my surprise they gave me a road test but I pass that ..down shifting needs some work but didn't hit anything..few people got sent home today for failing the road test and one guy for peeing next to the truck before his road test lol
