Swift OTR was great I was well taken care of until I went to a dedicated account. I was OTR with swift for a month and the only problem is the same problem all the mega carriers have witch was the trucks......I went thru 3 trucks in that month. The last truck I was in OTR i kept when I went to the target account in denton, this account was great until eric sanders got back after being hit by a semi. I only worked with him for a few weeks before he was hurt, he was gone for a month or more. In that time I clock 3-5 weeks of 70+ hours, made good money for being home every night. He came back and just screwed everything up changing doc out times, unload times, travel times. This made it extremely hard to get any kind of hours, and made it impossible to deliver any stop after the first on time. 30 min for target to unload anything is outrageous only because they dont really give a crap about your time, I mean most the stores took 15 min or more just to even let you in the back room to start unloading.

Anyway, On what would turn out to be my last load for target the day starts out crappy. I wake up and feel like I ran myself over a few time in my truck but I go in anyway, thru the day I get my next days load like any other day. I call in and accept it the DM on duty says "man you sound like crap". I finished the day go home and take some over the counter cold meds and crash......I woke up the next day running late and feeling worse then the day before but I keep getting ready, as I get to my car I vomit all over the car, ground, and shoes :/.....I called in and let them know today is just to bad, and im told the following day im no longer on the account and to head in to lancaster term to get something different. Really??? wtf

Ok, so not gonna piss and moan just screw it and see what else they have. I get put on the worst account possible, the sears account.........I have never had so much BS thrown my way ever. Starts out I have to switch to a truck on the sears account, ok no problem. I take 1 load and it dies on the way back, I get it up and running again and make my way in the shop for repairs witch will take 3-4 days cause it has to be seen by the dealer tech that comes on site 2 or 3 days a week. In the mean time I am told they have a truck from a driver who parked it took home time and went to another companys orientation. That when HE COMES TO CLEAN IT OUT because it has high value items in it then I get it. Pay close attention to the all caps, so I get a call and im told my truck is done but it being taken off the account to get in this other truck thats been cleaned out by last driver and iam to team drive with this diamond driver so he can be home for thanksgiving. Ok no problem. Im told the keys to new truck are on the desk of lead sears DM, I get there to swap trucks and never was I told nore was anyone else what the new truck # was........yes partly my fault I should have asked. Well I sent in a message saying my stuff is still in the old truck cause I didnt know the new truck # and it was 4am sat morning so no one was there yet to tell me and team guy is ready to roll. So I get what in going to need out and lock the truck up, take both trucks keys and head out.

8am rolls around and the 3 DMs on the account swap out weekends so its always covered, well he comes in and calls to make sure everything is going as planned. The diamond driver tells this guy I DID NOT SWAP TRUCKS because I never got the new # at this time im given the new number. Now fast forward to us getting back, Im going to grab my crap throw it in the new truck set it up later but get everything in there at lest, as well I need my car keys I left in the old truck with my other just to avoid taking a chance on losing them in the team truck. Well my truck was not in the spot I left it.......oh great. I track it down and get inside only to find out IT WAS GIVEN TO ANOTHER SEARS DIVER 2 HOURS AFTER WE TOLD THEM ON THE PHONE MY STUFF WAS STILL IN IT. Now I couldnt clean this "new truck" out because it had valued items in it but this other guy can clean my stuff out? So now im stuck no car keys, nothing was left in the truck. I get a ride home and come back after thanksgiving and raise hell, Im told I will be given a PO for a lock smith to get a key cut and swift will pay for it, as well as the guy who has all my stuff will be back at the term by 5pm to come back and collect my things from him.

This guy never stops at the term, he doesnt stop for 2 weeks and he only stopped because I got the terminal manager involved and his job was threatened. But he stopped in OKC and left "what he had"......he says all the had was 3 shirts and a hoodie, really? the gps, cb, xm radio, and misc stuff just grew legs and left. So now im really pissed, raise even more hell to where the head DM of sears agrees to replace my stolen items. All I want replaced were the items I cant just go and buy on a single paycheck witch was the gps and cb I let them know I can replace the other items but they were gifts from my wife and just to much $$. So we had a agreement, no worries I do my runs and things are going normal until the following paycheck. Iam paid half of what I was told the pay would be for the team runs, they lowered my pay for teaming then cut it in half. Im also charged for the lock smith after the lead DM said I wouldnt be. The truck gets parked at my house and I QC a message explaining the mishap and wont move till at lest my pay if fixed for miles I already worked. The next check come around and they fixed half the problem, lock smith was refunded to my and half the mile pay was fixed. I ask why and was told it because they didnt get it in before the cut off, ok and i agree to take more loads. 3rd check rolls around and they take the half of pay that was fixed back...WTF and now only the lock smith is fixed and im screwed yet again. Truck is parked again, I get the paper work for unpaid wages thru texas workforce as well as make a police report about the missing items. 4th check rolls around and still nothing is fixed, and im given the "we working on it" so I start calling around and talking to manager after manager and finally I get someone who cares and helps me get this fixed.......so on the 5th check, 5 weeks later everything is fixed items are replaced and miles are paid.

5 weeks to fix something they caused, meanwhile im having to put off car payments, rent, phone bills........By this time I had enough and I separated my self from swift, could have stayed OTR but really I had no want to be in a truck any longer. I should have stayed OTR but the thought of being in my own bed every night trumps all. I still think working for swift OTR wasnt the worst place I have been but the dedicated accounts or the 2 i was on atlest were living hell, and i wouldnt suggest anyone going on one.

that was a long type, and no need for any of the trolls to post with the normal troll bs, this was just what I experienced with swift. Im sure other have had nothing but good times and so on. Just alittle info for drivers thinking about switching

You should have stayed OTR. 5 years out of my 6 were trouble free. The only problems I ever had when I was with Swift were when I was on dedicated accounts (WM in Grandview WA/Hermiston OR and Casa Grande AZ and Target out of Phoenix). I left because my lease was up and I had no interest in going back to Swift's cheap company driver cpm rate.

Very surprised to hear this. I am on the Target Dedicated out of West Jefferson, OH, reefer division, and everything for the most part is just great. The cut times and at times del times are somewhat whacky due to new computer system, like cut times of 2307 and deliver at 0403. sorry to read what happened.

Not everyone can have a great experience, I know I didnt do well OTR and was ready to quit, got on a Target dedicated over a year ago and still doing it. I know not all the Target fleets run smooth but ours does pretty well.

I know getting on a dedicated after only driving 1 month does not happen too often.

I know if I were ever to go back driving a company truck (gag me with a spoon) I would pack light and never leave anything in the truck at the terminal. I recall being on hometime once, truck on shop status, they parked it outside unlocked. Anybody could walk up to the truck and take whatever they want of my personal items or simply move into the truck and drive off with a load.

I know in Lathrop they keep the trucks locked and I have never had an issue with anything of mine taken.

I have 3 years exp, but only a month with swift when I went to the target account. I think most the problem with this target account was the management

Back in 2010 when the truck was in the shop, they parked it outside the shop in front of the doors overnight. I went down there every day on home time (only a few miles away) to bring things to or take things from the truck. The truck was completely unlocked. I will never forget that because I had my wife with me and she opened the door and got right in.

If your truck was in Lancaster and things were missing, I can tell you from personal experience someone in the detail group is cleaning up more than trash from the trucks that may still even be assigned.
