Just got mine today but only had about 1.5 hours with the new update.

I was surprised to get a warning that I was exceeding the posted speed limit. Never heard this come out of her mouth before. I actually had to turn up the volume a little to make sure it wasn't the radio or those voices in my head again.

What else should we be expecting with this new update? Is the day fast approaching when under the performance tab we will see whether we exceeded the posted speed limit or other fun things?

    Update Pros and Cons?

I started reading an article some place, qualcomm wants to get into the business of being able to detect cell and wifi signals receive/send from the truck in motion then report that back to the truck company, law enforcement or scale houses or whoever wants that info.

All the more reason why I cringe every time a driver willingly accepts (or even ASKS for) these silly boxes to be installed. I'm an adult, and I don't need a babysitter, and DEFINITELY don't want or need a rat close by on the rare occasion where the rules might be ever so slightly bent in order to comply with common sense (such as stopping at a store I need to pick something up from as I'm passing it on my way home...instead of driving right past it, only to get home and have to fire up the pickup and drive 30-45 minutes BACK to town just to go to that store I had JUST driven past, buy the stuff I needed, and drive another 30-45 minutes home again, JUST so I don't slip past the 14th hour 5 miles from home if I make the stop on the way home...)

I turn off the sound unless its a place I've never gone before. Then I might turn it on the last couple miles but even then not usually. I had no idea it may have been spouting this crap lol. I'll have to turn it up tomorrow. I'll just tell it to S.T.F.U. as usual but it may make me laugh.

On a related note I recently had to take a Swift mandated class. I was shown that Swift had secretly installed cameras on random trucks. I was shown videos of 3 drivers actions. 2/3 were fired. Might want to check close if your truck goes in the shop or you get a new one. I'm thinking tape would blur things up. Me personally I find a camera, I quit. Period. I can see the point, Swift had too many fatal accidents last year with them at fault but I just would not be able to tolerate cameras (there were multiple views) watching me.

That's why I'm curious what else this update entails. So far I've heard about the speeding thing. I'll keep looking for what else is involved in this update.

I saw those videos too. I was under the impression that those drivers knew the cameras were in there but either just forgot about them or just didn't care. I asked my DM that day about this and she said they knew they were placed in there. I could be wrong but I don't think they can put cameras in there without your knowledge. Installing camera without out consent would probably cause some privacy issues as there is an "expectation of privacy", at least when it comes to the sleeper area which seems to fall into view. Imagine if some random Swift employee could see us in the sleeper berth getting changed, etc. And then of course they would have to make sure it was a female reviewing a female's video, etc. This would be a bad deal I think.

And I'm with you on the camera thing. I would never work for any company that felt the need to video me while I drive. Talk about distracting. If Swift installs a camera in my truck my first stop would be Walmart for lipstick so I could do my best Silence of the Lambs Buffalo Bill impression for the camera.

Ok I did not know that they consented. Maybe they did, and if so then they deserve to be fired for consenting to it. Idiots. Granted they did stupid stuff but really...they knew they were on camera??????

The Qualcomm update lol, once again it happened rush hour EST. At least for me, though it affected me in no way.

The only difference I've seen so far is the new feature that warns you when you are exceeding the speed limit. My thoughts about this:

    - On the one hand it is helpful if you are in a stimuli intensive situation approaching small towns or in urban areas with lots of signs, traffic, traffic lights, etc. and you might miss a change in speed limit.

    - On the other hand I've had it tell me I'm exceeding the speed limit ON THE FREEWAY when bypassing a scale (with bypass signal given by Prepass) noting that the speed limit is 3 mph!!!!

I think it's a very bad addition to the navigation. I'd rather have the volume on when driving unfamiliar territory so I can hear instructions or hear when there is an incoming message. Now I turn it off because so frequently the noted speed limit is wrong and I'm getting the overspeed message in error.

Just today she complained I'm over the speed limit on an on ramp that had a recommended 25 mph speed limit on a cloverleaf, I was going 22 mph and she said the speed limit was 10 mph. Go figure.

    ROTFLMAO! :D :D :D

That conjures images that can't be unseen.

If I hit the speaker icon it turns off the voice for the Navigation module completely.
