I heard that a few weeks ago in one of the QC video's.

Swift was one of the first to raise driver pay last year, then many more companies got on the band wagon.
It caused a big stir, especially with Swift shareholders.

So perhaps they are going to raise the bar once again, just for fun?

I'm wondering just how far it will go in the coming years.
If the 'bottom feeders' raise driver pay first, how can the premium companies fail to do the same?
That will drive up shipping costs across the board, by the way.

It is the same as increasing the minimum wage.
It is good for a few, for a little while.
But in the end, the increased cost of everything bites everyone - especially those on the lower end of income.

    dptrucker Thanks this.

Well while it will drive up cost for shippers and eventually consumers drivers need to be paid more than what they've been paid ...there's no excuse why an experienced driver shouldn't be able to make nearly $60k/yr otr or more...even Duane acklie had mentioned that back several years ago..

Companies have been pulling in record profits for years. Go into TA Petro and pick up that trucker newspaper, once in a while they list several company's public profits-- most of them are double digit gains and profits year over year. They got that way by paying rock bottom wages to their drivers.

    :stretches:

Yeahhhh call me when they are done screwing around stretching out those penny raises.
Basically no point driving until they are done with that. Ain't worth putting pants on for.

:points to trucker on strike bumper sticker: (in front of you slowed down 3 mph with blinker still on)

The penny's per mile really don't mean a lot.

Have to disagree with that. even one penny per mile on average is 1000$ a year. If that $ does not mean anything to you PM me and ill send you my address in exchange for 1 penny per mile i run.

There is no information yet on the new raise. We are pushing for rate increases already in preparation for the pay increase, but it will be coming. I don't know how big of an increase but I am sure it will be beneficial for our hard working employees.

Getting a raise is like entering in to a new relationship.

It is all fresh and exciting, at first.
Then Life kicks in, and it gets stale.

After that a new round begins again.
The people at the bottom 'deserve' more without doing more, get it, and then everything escalates to a new level once again.
    It's a never ending cycle.

Last year's raise was 12.5% for me. Went a ways toward helping me get just shy of $60K for the year.
