Oh, and dealership said that the mileage could've been effected by where the coolant was leaking from. The EGR?? And that does seem to be the case. Getting much better mileage now.

    Hi Kymi,
Just wanted to say HI and I hope your troubles are behind you. I'm also trying to get to my 7 posts so I can talk to folks as I'm new to all this stuff. I also had 2 breakdown issues the past 2 days and spent over 6 hours today in Cudahy, WI just waiting. Took over an hour on hold with Breakdown Hotline, then another hour for 1st tow truck to show, then another hour for a different tech to show up. Still I made it home and will be working my first Saturday on a dedicated Chep Acct tomorrow. At least its another day of pay ;)

I've had 'breakdown' issues for the past month or more, but nothing that made me shut down until recently.

I've had a check engine light for a couple months, but the truck was running fine.
I started to use more coolant, but I couldn't see any obvious leaks under the truck.
The batteries have been getting worse so I have to idle more than I would like.
The kicker was when the air compressor started going bad. Under power it does just fine, but with low RPM it doesn't kick in.

I'm now in the shop at SLC, and after a full day with the mechanics some are fixed and some are still wanting.
They always try to cut corners, to do the quick fix without actually diagnosing the real problem.
As such, my air compressor is still not working correctly and my batteries are still bad.
I'll be here at least one more day.

Although, it could not have been otherwise.
Had they taken the time to correctly diagnose and fix those problems it would still have meant another day to fix the remainder of the problems.

Last month I put the truck in at Inver Grove Heights for the check engine light, but just as I started out on my next load it came back on.
I didn't go back because it seemed to be running fine.
When I got the truck back this time at SLC the light was off, for an hour or so. It is back on again.
Most times it seems to be one sensor or another.

And it seems that it is like... WTF!!! to everyone concerned, both drivers and mechanics.
With every 'improvement' designed into these trucks there seem to be hundreds of possible malfunctions.

The last one before I got the truck back is a prime example.
They cleared the computer codes, but one remained. Something about a power loss and fluctuating voltage, or something.
They moved a battery cable from one battery post to another and it 'fixed' the problem.
An hour later I get a check engine fault, once again.

My guess would be a bad battery that they failed to diagnose properly.
    But, who knows?

All these break down stories make me feel a little better about mine...2 weeks ago my truck regened for 2 hours...tow truck got me and everything..and when I got to the dealership the truck had finished...well this week I was moving pretty good through the snow in Illinois and the same thing happened....this time it never stopped the regen process...turns out it was a bad filter sensor...needless to say im going to have a sad paycheck come tuesday...I was wondering about the possiblity of swifr issuing me out a new-to-me truck..but you guys have made it clear...no matter how many breakdowns/issues...youll get one when they feel like giving you one..
