It is simple: Swift is not loading your card (PERIOD)!
And it is 100% doubtful that your card is set up to be accepted for fuel transactions until you get your own truck. Your card is for advances off your training pay....and Swift hasn't paid you yet apparently.
And you don't get showers for using a fuel card...you get showers by using a REWARDS card. Your "mentor" is not going to give up the points on his card whether you were to use YOUR ComData (if it worked) or theirs.

You can get your own Rewards card at any truck stop at any time....but getting your "mentor" to let you swipe it during fueling is a whole different ball game.

The free showers are on your rewards cards, not your comdata card. Have your mentor swipe your rewards cards when fueling...if he/she will. When I was with a mentor, he gave me the co driver shower. I don't know about now, but it used to be showers only stayed on the rewards card for a couple of weeks.

Swift used to have trainees Com data cards working when starting the problem was owner operators found out and had the trainees use their card for free fuel

When you mentor goes for his shower tell the desk that it a team shower. They know teams don't use two fuel cards to fuel, but has two drivers. You will both get a separate shower room.

when I was at Central I was told to use my TCH card to fuel, its mostly universal and it doesn't cost me $1 to use it. and you can also use it for scale tickets

my trainer told me to use his rewards card to fuel, so he can get the showers (its his truck so it makes sense)

It's amazing the amount of misinformation that can ensue in just a few short hours.

Wrong, trainee's cards are supposed to be set up for fuel. I don't understand your doubtfulness on the matter as it doesn't hurt swift in any way to allow this. It will only allow you to fuel where swift tells you to and only as much as they allow if you are with a company driver. If you are with an O/O it gets charged to his/her account.

I myself have no problem letting a student get the points on their rewards card even though it is my money earning them, the way I see it is whoever performs the work to fuel earns the points. Most mentors tend to view it this way as well.

That may have been the case at first but I doubt it. The trainee's fuel transactions get charged to the mentor.

    To the op:

Are you with a company driver or O/O? If you are with and O/O you have to send in a Macro 27 and that will activate your card for the day, you will have to do it every day that you fuel before you fuel and it may take 15 min. or so to process.

If you are with a company driver try calling the main phone in Phoenix and ask the operator to speak with the fuel department they can tell you exactly how to get it fixed if they cannot fix it on their end.

Good post broccelli. I agree, as a mentor I always want my trainees to be earning rewards points as soon as possible. Nothing like being able to have them get some free food or coffee along the way, not to mention showers. When team driving I prefer they have showers on their card so they can shower during their 30 minute break and not have to wake me up to use my card.
