no you wont need it. but you will need one once you get on the road. if you do get a atlas go to a truck stop and get the truck atlas.

Also be sure to get the Laminated/Spiral Bound one.
If you use it at all the regular one will fall apart in no time.
But yeah I would wait until you finish School.

Yes you should. Because you can learn how to read it. Get acquainted with it. Even if at school they have them for you to learn on, it's better to have your own.

Yes thats it. Also like Balakov100 said get the laminated one. You don't understand how much it sucks to be reach for your map and it falls apart.

Rand McNally is the standard, yes. Get the laminated with the spiral bind so you can make notes in it and be able to wipe it off.

School does furnish them. Two of the things taught is map reading and trip planning. But once you go solo make sure you have an Atlas.

Like the other posters advised, get the laminated spiral bound one. You can get one for 29.99 if you look around. I wouldnt advise the Large Scale version. It is a lot more expensive, has more pages so its heavier, and you spend more time flipping pages. Just Ohio took 4 full pages for instance. And none of the roads seemed to line up correctly at the page edges.
