So I'm at the rest area I-65 Indiana, it's about oh dark thirty (0600) coming back from the bathroom I see a Swift driver trying to blindside back into a parking spot, yes I did say blindside back, I couldn't understand why he just didn't pull into a spot. Anywho I'm sitting there watching him trying to pull off this miracle, now keep in mind there's a 6inch medium seperating the truck and car parking, did I also mention he had a codriver or passenger with him. Well low and behold Mr I can back into any spot backed right into the trailer next to the spot he was trying to get into. I finally got out of my truck and asked the backer if he was done trying to get into that spot tried to explain to him there's no way you can do what you're trying cause there's not enough room and he has me blocked in, he starts getting smart I tell him that I'm not going to argue with you and could you please move~do you think he let the other driver no that he hit his trailer~nope pulled off I'm glad I got his tractor number gave it to the other driver. Thanks swift for putting another unsafe driver on the road.

Swift? Or a bad driver? Be real.
-
They are the reason I spent 45-60 minutes on hold to report prior trailer damage, almost every trailer I pick up, too. Thank you for saving his truck number for the other driver.
rexmanno and scottied67 Thank this. -
How much was the trailer damaged?

Pics or it didn't happen

Yea the other night I woke up to a crunching sound and looked out real quick, a CREngland had destroyed the hood of the truck parked next to me. The driver came to talk to me after he couldn't find the other truck's driver. Turns out this CREngland driver had a team mate or student, or he was the student, not sure but how do you have someone else in the truck who could simply be woken up to help out while backing and not wake them up? Seems like their little whiny grouchiness would be cheaper than carrying around a preventable for the next million miles....
Got another one too-- few years ago was walking my dog and see this flatbedder backing out of his spot into a row of trucks parked at a slight angle. I went over in the dark to help this guy but he waved me off and proceeded to back right into this guy's hood all the while I was yelling and waving my arms for him to stop. He wasn't out of his spot enough and backed up even more just for good measure then hooked his steers hard left and the tail swing on his trailer caught the next truck's hood too. At that point I just walked between the wrecks and disappeared into the darkness and walked all the way around the truck stop to sneak into my truck parked a couple trucks down from this flatbedder. Meanwhile he's gesturing to the cops that some guy with a dog was telling him to keep backing up. Abby and I just slipped back out onto the highway-- did not want to be caught up in being a witness while my 14 was ticking away. -
Swift hires ####### what do you expect?

I had a swift tear off my hood once in Nashville, Loves @ Trinity lane, (Yeah don't stop there but I unloaded 1.5 blocks from there), I was asleep, in the back row, I jumped out of bed, and he was leaving, I literally ran out of my truck, across the parking while still in my undies and jumped on the step of his truck as he was rounding the corner and he had his window down and I said, "Man! You Just hit my truck!" Of course he tried to deny it, but I got to tell him, "You know you did, besides, my hood is still draggin' from your ICC bumper!"
NWAF and scottied67 Thank this. -

When did the 200 hours with mentor before they ley you loose become the norm. I admit I.am out of trucking some time, but when I got in it was minimum of 3 years full time driving 5 axle diesel.equipment OTR before companies would even talk to you. Now its a cdl.school,.and hit open road with.a mentor and your good to.go. things in.a lot of ways really has changed. Roadway and Consolodated, were a piece of cake. Trucks never shut off. All day cabs, good equipment, always a bed to.sleep in and home most every other night. Pay was Minimum of $50.00 a day and .17 1/2cpm Dh/BT or loaded. My son just got on Flatbed with.Swift.and had run.solo in dry van and reefer. IMHO its more like Swift uses cheap labor knowing a good portion will.drop.out and they need to put more emphasis on the quirks and little things than they currently do. Roadway drove. Never turned a key on or off, as tractors were on ready line running. Walkaround beat the tires and go. No gauges other than combination speed and tack, and 4 red lights. And 10,speed with.8V92 detroits. Things sure have changed in the trucking industry. I made good money with.both.companies and ran.a dedicated route with the Big R from Camphill,.Pa, to.Morristown Tn. For 8 years. Then any freight they had. With CF it was coast to.coast, mainly i40.
scottied67 and NoBluffBuff Thank this.
