I've been out here for years and have yet to spill fuel on my clothes.

Is there something wrong with me, or am I just too careful?
Is making sure the nozzle drains before I pull it out overkill?

    MJ1657 and Broccelli Thank this.

Best thing that I have found to work on that problem is to wash them in dawn dish washing liquid and it removed it.

I use vinegar for smells, but diesel fuel is greasy, so I'd try dawn then washing. I use oxyclean, tide and April fresh downey, no smells. The blue shout advanced even gets out washed and dried in stains and oil spots. Steve does his laundry OTR unless he'll soon be home.

I just burn it with fire. It's permanent but it works wonders😈

He puts his dirty clothes in their own bag. He doesnt walk on them. Maybe i am just to senditive to smells? Even he smells like a diesel truck to me (yes, after showering too.) I dont mind doing his laundry, i usually sneak one more outfit into his clothes everytime he goes out, so he doesnt have to do it at a truck stop. I will try the baking soda and the dawn but since i have hard water vinegar usually stays in the clothes...i had to wash my cloth diapers 5 times to get rid of the vinegar smell. Thank you for all the suggestions. :)

You can also take them to the dry cleaners. My boyfriend at the time worked at a foundry came home with black stuff all over his clothes.I took them to the cleaners and they got that smell and black out every time.

I have used trk stop washers and some ate my clothes.Alot of their washers and dryers are bad anyway which is why I started taking my clothes to the laundry mat when on the road.So if someone washes their fuel soaked clothes its not going to make a bit of difference far as the trk stop is concerned. What happened to this industry is awhole lot more then that.

I was in a small town. Can't remember where but it was an oil drilling town. I went to the laundromat and was sitting there and saw a sign up front that said "NO Greasers". I also noticed a bunch of Puerto Rican's in the back also doing laundry. A lady came in and was emptying the cash from the machines and she starting talking to me. I eventually said I'm surprised someone hasn't burned down the place. She was in shock and asked why.

I grew up in Mass and Greaser was a bad word for Puerto Rican's. She laughed and never heard that. She showed me some machines in the back and they had a sign on them that said Greasers. They wash them with a chemical then wash them again up front.

Lowe's sells five gallon buckets, and screw on lids to fit. One of those half full of water, add a good squeeze of Dawn, throw in greasy clothes and strap it to the catwalk for the day's drive. The clothes come out quite clean.

    It's an old sailor's trick.

I told him my suggestions were to use dawn dish soap...he said, "i am not washing in dish soap." Yep, he thinks that i am that crazy since i told him the smell is embedded in him. Lol.
