Well, finally decided to try Swift. I'll be going to orientation in Greer on May the 4th. I am a little nervous about the road test lol. I have about 7 months of driving but hate being tested! How bad do they scrutinize experienced drivers on the road test? I'm an OK driver, but grind a gear from time to time especially downshifting to the lower gears and OK at backing, but not great. Does anyone know if they want you to double clutch the gears? I've been trying to get back into double clutching lately so I can get a feel for it again, I've gotten so used to floating them. Anyone else happen to be going the same day/location?

    Nwernig and momluvschloe Thank this.

Drive the way you're comfortable shifting , watch the trailer on turns (no curb climbing , be careful with following distance , take your time backing be sure to GOAL and pull up and reset a bad setup . Keep your head on a swivel while underway . Imagine you are the one teaching the examiner and demonstrate the right way to do it . Piece-o-cake !

The best advice if you're missing and grinding low gears is to flush up less... RPMs are almost always too high when the gears are so close like in the basement. Combined with braking and slowing, you may only need to flush up 1-200 rpm to meet your next gear.

The test is pretty basic. Swift does want you to double clutch depends on who is testing rather or not they give a crap. They are not looking for perfection just the ability to drive with out killing anyone. I mean heck you think your nervous think about the guy that has to give you the test. Lol
