Thanks. When I finally get on my own I have been thinking about the zone for east US. I live in MA so I will need to get here every 2-3 weeks for some home time. Does the Sears dedicated cover MA and new england or just around Ohio?

I did many loads to upstate NY, Jersey, PA..so I would assume that the Columbus covers your area also. Get down to Columbus and get to know the Sears planner..always a good move...plus often they are multi stop and return freight to Columbus, so living where you do could be a benefit to the Sears account. Many drivers don't like the "original 13 colonies" and I am sure you understand why!

Ford.. Sounds like ya'll are having a good time it also sounds like you are catching on pretty quick which should be making it all that much funner instead of having to deal with the stress of not getting the hang of things...

The tip I can give a head of time for when the classes are over and ya get to head out to test for the CDL is just pretend like the examiner is one of your instructors and it's just another day of class... this will help you stay relaxed for the actual test so that ya can not be distracted and pass with flying colors !!

Once you are in your truck and solo, when you get to a terminal, volunteer for local work, give them a hand for a day..make a friend and it could reward your efforts in the future. Don't bother with Fontana/Mira Loma...they don't return favors much..Phoenix night crew is good to get to know,...well just check around and it never hurts to make a friend if you know what I mean!
That is always a good idea no matter who or where ya work... its not what ya know or how well ya know something... its WHO ya know that is important.. well that and showing that ya do know what you are doing as well LOL !!

Hey Ford...you said your logged 2 hours on line 4 and 74 miles...you threw me there..did you really log 74 miles on duty not driving..what were you doing running along side the truck?...ROFLMAO Your instructor must have needed oxygen from laughing so much with you outside the truck...hope it was downhill, cause running uphill for 74 miles could really put a strain on your "equipment"...STILL ROFLMAO my sides are starting to hurt....you guys kill me!

Yeah, we have some crazy drivers in New England. They are trying to make people take another driving test when they are 85 years old. Had a few accidents with people 85 and older within the last week. One killed a 5 year old girl, another drove into a package store. I lived in Arizona for 4 years. When the snowbirds come the are also a trip on the roads. Middle lane of I-10 or I-60 at 45 mph, with trun signal on.

big big difference driving as team and solo. I've been in my DMs ear saying i need to keep rolling, and that going from a $600 take home paycheck to $250 isnt cutting it anymore. I asked about how i keep hearing stories about drivers (worse than me, who cant even keep out of log class) keep getting handed sweet dedicated runs, making $1000 a week, yet i've paid my dues enough to atleast get a dedicated account. He tells me its because i have 2 service failures, and i have to wait for them to fall off. Maybe its because he is too flippin' lazy, or the FM dont want to lose the truck to a dedicated account 500 mi away.

I've done 'proved myself'. but the reward i get, is to sit nearly 48 hrs between loads.
