there school in lewiston idaho is great, instructors are awsome they will do anything to help u. i talk to many of there drivers out of there and they really liked driving for swift and some of them had 2 or 3 yrs in with them so why is eveybody so neg about swift? they also train u in school on some of the steepest grades around. they have no tolerence for screw ups as a company driver cause of there 96 pt rating. i have a freind who drives 4 them that is getting a min of 2500 miles a wk and he also really likes working 4 them other drivers i talked to say they get 2500-3300 miles a wk dont sound that bad plus they top out at .39 cpm after 5 yrs as good as a lot and better than a lot of other companys plus they have huge major accounts and lots of freight

Congratulation!!! Glad to hear all is going well. Keep us posted on the rest of your training. I also plan on going with Swift in about a month. I hope to start with a trainer as I already have a CDL.

Good to hear! Sounds like a good bunch of trainers.

Count yourself lucky, just remember to use your mirrors and stay off of the shoulders.

But that is another story. Another driver got killed this week in IN. Swift driver did it again, on the shoulder and pulled into traffic. He forgot about using those pesky mirrors. Go figure?

Lost a friend like that a few years ago to another Swift driver. Forgot to use the mirrors on the OH turnpike. The OH state cops left the burned out carcass of the Swift trailer on the shoulder for a few weeks for all to see.

Yeah I'm begining to think it's the idiot drivers like that that give the company a bad name. I sounds like Swift isn't as bad some make it out to be. We have to remember after all, it is a starter company so pay isn''t the greatest.

Just protect your drivers license so you can change jobs when/if you need to.Write down all of your comments about swift now and reread them periodically to see what has changed.Your enthusiasm is refreshing, check back in a few months so we can see if you still feel the same way.

Well glad the Lewiston school is good because the Mmephis one sure sucked. I was a mentor there for 3 years and hated getting a driver out of there because they just passed everyone whether they could drive or not. Might be why Tennessee shut them down maybe? I know I wrote to the state a few times about it. That was one thing I never liked about Swift they would tell trainees to just pull onto the shoulder to switch drivers and to read qualcomm messages because it is easier than pulling into a truckstop or something like that. I always told them they better not do it while in my truck or I am not taking over for them and they never did.

I've had two buddies work for Swift, one loved it and the other hated it. The one who loved it got alot of miles but had to call payroll every week because they always screwed up his pay. He said he just made copies of everything and made his weekly call and it was fixed. He also said they had pretty good health/dental benefits. The second driver was an immigrant from Bosnia and wasn't really a buddy but I worked with him. He said he ran 2200-2600 miles a week and only brought home a maximum of $250 per/week. He said he never called payroll, he just kept his mouth shut and hence the problem. So apparently if you keep good records and are verbal, all should be ok.

Hay bigkid2, Sorry about the way you felt about the TN school I guess they have change since you were there I just finished the school and went back to the Ocala terminal and did my road training with Steve and I really liked him he was very good with us and I took my test with DMV last friday and passed my test with great scores, Steve was great and I got my CDL A. As far as the TN instructors they were very good also they build up my driving skills and everything was really good but it was really cold weather wise. No complains from me they were very good ( it felt like boot-camp) but very good.:biggrin_2554::yes2557:
