Use to work for Flying J ,12 yrs(untill Pilot bought em, wasnt going to take that type of pay cut anyway, thats a thread in itself!) that quote ("Experience means nothing ,we hire anyone who will accept the job for the pay offered")was from an middle/upper management at Pilot told to me just before the transition. Advantage(and all their subsidiarys) is the biggest in the country. And Pilot/FJ is also near the top too.

Yep, that's true..I would load at Carson, South Gate and Wilmington. The BP guys here in So Cal seem to be one of two mind sets. "If I work fast enough, then the new owners will pick us up" OR "I'm taking my severance and looking around"..At Linde we have already hired three of them. The rumor is that Valero is looking at the SoCal operations and if that happens...Hello KagWest or most likely Cox..Cox is looking for drivers for Mobil in Vernon...Paying 17.00 an hour, no OT..Train at $50 a DAY...NO thanks..

I knew some of the Flying J drivers who ran here in Southern California who used to really like their jobs. I met several of them at the Dagget racks. Seems like after Pilot took them over, you never see them anymore. I used to envy them, 2 loads a day, usually just to a Flying J and then home. Now I see Pilot advertising for drivers at the local Work Force Development Office.."No exp. necessary"..

The woman who pulls into a 1 island 2 pump station that ends up looking like shes in the indy500 before she gets her gas tank to the right side to fuel.

^Dont forget that she's all pissed off at YOU for being in her way in the first place! Nevermind her own stupidity of not knowing which side her tanks on!

I haul JetA and AVGAS. Going to airports, large and small is a pleasure, they mostly do everything. The small airports you have to unload yourself but it;s no big deal a lot to look at.

I've seen plenty of men do that too. The funniest was at a station that is the last one going to the airport. You see all the people that have rental cars come in and fill the car for 50¢ because the rental car company put the fear into them if they have to put gas in the car. Then to top it off they do not know how to open the gas tank. I've seen some real fights go on at this station.

Been hauling gas for like 4 months, haven't really had anything too crazy. I had a guy squeeze between my rig and the pumps while I was unloading and I heard him from the other side of my trailer "Great place to park a truck!" then he walked past me to go inside the store, looked over at me, and shook his head and continued walking. Guess he figured I was parked there because I was bored and enjoyed blocking people, and the gas he was about to pump just magically appeared out of thin air. Not like I'm trying to do a job or anything.

I was parked like that and this lady came in and parked her car right in a stall about 20 feet from my hoses. She had a little kid in the car and got out and left the car running with him in the car. I told her not to do that and of course she got all nasty and such telling me to mind my own business. She was walking out of the store when her kid was jumping all around in the car and he kicked the car in reverse. I was prepared and had a fitting in hand to place under the tires if the car got close. The lady was screaming trying to hold the car back and finally she got the door open and stopped the car. She was in the middle of the parking lot and I was LMAO. I said real loud "not my business yeah right". Give it some time and you'll see everything.

During the oil embargo and shortages of the 70's I was hauling gasoline & diesel fuel. There were lines at all the service stations. Yes they actually had service stations that would pump the gas for you. C stores were just getting going then. when I would come into a town to deliver people would follow the truck to where I was delivering and start lining up to top their tanks off. Some would only need a gallon or two and their tank was full. I often saw fights over a place in line. It was a crazy time.
