Hey all. I was seeing if anyone could give me some insight into some of the fuel haulers in and around Selma or Wilmington North Carolina? I have come across a few through a google search and was hoping that anyone could tell me something about them-
    1. Reliable Tank
    2. Eagle Transport
    3. Petroleum Transport Company
    4. Waccamaw Transport
    5. Florida Rock and Tank
    6. Energy Dispatch

I have been pulling a tanker in the Pittsburgh area for the past 14 months and have often thought about moving down to NC. I'd like to know how they pay (hourly, %), good/bad, shift times (2pm-2am or 4pm-4am etc.)?

can you give more details about your pay in pittsburgh? how much $ per shift on average. any extra pay, fueling, pre-trip, rack delay etc.?

down here in ft. lauderdale, as of 2 years ago there was eagle, fla. rock and energy dispatch. i guess if you asked most guys eagle was better pay than fla. rock. energy dispatch was a different system, i was told with them the driver is assigned to certain racetrac stations, and it was the drivers responsibility to keep them full.

down here, on average, about $15 per hour if things going well. all trip pay for these three carriers. catch a bad day with traffic, delays
etc. making less than $15. most down here expecting 6 days a week also. i believe there is considerable amount of driver turnover too.

I work for Wilco/Hess in Wilmington. Wilco is not a common carrier and they are the top paying Fuel Hauler in Wilmington. They will be hiring a few more drivers this spring. I came from Eagle and I really like working for Wilco, make a lot more money and don't work as hard as I did with Eagle. PM me for more information if you like.

Thanks a bunch DriverBill and pathfinder. With who I working for they are on the lower end of the pay scale for tanker outfits. Not the greatest paying during your 4-5 weeks of training. but once you get some time in it is not bad but no where near the pay I should be getting for what I have to do and deal with. Right now after a year with this outfit I am making 16.75 per hour. That might be low to you but I just got my self to deal with, no wife or kids.

Of course there are others that start around 17-hr. There does not seem to be any carriers that pay by the load or any other way. 99% seem to pay by the hour.

As far as other pay, there is not:biggrin_2559:. We get over time after 40 which I always get at least 5-6 a week. Just last week I put in a 52-hour week. We work 5 days with 2-three day weekends a month and the other 2 we work a Saturday or a Sunday.

    ........

    pathfinder1361 Thanks this.

The carrier I drive for is pretty small compared to alot of others. We only have about 15 tractor trailers and about 15 peddle trucks for home delivery and other places.

To let you southerners know some of the outfits up here they are:
    -SoureOne Transportation
    -CTI Transport (Sheetz)
    -Kenan Advantage
    -BRT Inc.
    -Pilot

There are others but I can't think of them right now.

Yeah CC..Unfortunately, Kinkin wants it and it will probably happen..Freddie K. doesn't like ITERIS..They are already talking about it here on the west coast. With all the accidents happening lately, everybody's under that microscope. And I wouldn't take your gravy...lol..Oh and Lou N. say's hi...vaguely...And the Jeff L. stories ARE circulating thanks to you !

Im still cutting my teeth on the dry van side of the Industry, but after another year or two of hopefully safe driving, I was going to try and look into hauling fuel for Sheetz. I live near Greensboro, NC and I believe they have a terminal or a hub located there if im not mistaken
