Any tank wash depending on what you have hauled.PSC, Qualawash and numerous other cleaners.
Just depends on the product. If it's a non haz. and comes off okay it's usually a wash rinse and dry and takes about a hour and a half. Otherwise it can take a lot longer.
Most of the fatty acid we haul costs about $200 to wash out. -
Solvents & alcohols are usually a rinse, steam and blow dry.
Detergent and caustic washes are the most common and mid priced
Resins & other sticky & gooey stuff needs a solvent wash & the price get a little higher...
Then there is Acrylates...the stink queen of monomers. A company developed a product that chemically kills the smell, costs around $375 a gal!
It was the most expensive wash and customers were forced to pay it 'cause acrylates cause more odor complaints than anything else and this stuff keeps the wash racks in buisiness.
I had one complaint over acrylate while a TM for Matlack, cost us $2,500.00 in fines. -
Thank for the replys, I'm looking to broaden my horizons, so to speak and thinking of going tanker. Like where do you get a tank washed out? does a blue beacon do washouts or is there a more specialized place that you have to find? I hope I dont sound stupid, but just really dont know. Also, this is for tank drivers, is a tank job the best you ever had? I've heard tanks are the way to go as far as money is concerned and also for various loading and unloading reason. Thanks for the info and help

Matlack? I haven't heard that name in awhile. I wanted to work there when I was running tankers but never got on. Washes aren't to bad usually about 2 hrs.
