Does anyone know of any tanker companies that will hire on and train recent school graduates and that hire out of Georgia?

I have an application in with Superior Carriers and hoping that will work out. But just in case it doesn't, I was looking for some back up companies to apply with. I already have my hazmat/tanker endorsements.

I put in an application with Service Transport but I was out of their hiring area. I have seen Enterprise Transportation Services on the road and I think they are located in Winder Ga. I was going to check with them. Maybe someone on here knows if they hire recent grads.

If anyone could give me some names of other companies (besides SNI) that I can apply with I would appreciate it. I am not real particular as to whether it is liquid or dry bulk. Just want to put my endorsements to work since I got them.

    Thanks in advance.

I can only speak of gasoline tankers and general jobs at that. But what I have found is that sometimes they say they only hire experience drivers then they hire students if they need them. What I would do if I were you is go and see them. Talk with them directly and you'll get more out of it than applying on-line or calling. They will place a face to your application and they will know you really want the job. That just may be the deal breaker when they have tons of applications to go through.

superior carriers will hire you, they need driver's about as bad as everybody else. and they like to get driver's fresh out school before you get tainted. good luck driver.

I hope that is the case. They sound pretty good. I filled out an application and sent them the letter from my doctor clearing me on my back injury. The nice fellow I have been in contact with at SC sent all my information to the safety department for review so basically I think the decision lies in their hands at this point. I won't know anything until at least Friday. The anticipation is killing me :biggrin_25523:

At any rate, just looking for closely similar companies that will take noobs as a backup plan.

I thought I read in another thread that you applied with SNI and you heard back from them. What happened with that?

Holding out for something better. Something about SNI makes me really nervous. Not sure what, just a gut feeling I have.

You could always do cement. TriMac, Southeast, Ready Mix Concrete Co., East Coast cement, Coastal Concrete, Argos (tumbler truck), or if you really want to do hazmat OTR, then CTL for a little bit and start applying to Florida Rock and Tank as soon as you can. Or Kenan, or Eagle. There's also SFT out of Savannah.

I'm assuming alot, though. You are hot on Superior so you are looking to go OTR hazmat. Not interested in daycab work? Heck, you could try to sign on with one of the drayage companies in Savannah running cargo tanks out of the port.

Transport Service has a terminal in Winder, and that's not far at all from Jefferson. Enterprise and Groendyke are also in Winder, and I don't know if Superior has any facilities there but their name is on the sign out by the street along with those other tanker companies. I know Superior loads a lot out of Winder, as do some other tanker outfits that may not have a terminal up there, but given the freight may still be interested in hiring drivers that live close by. I've seen several Transport Service trucks parked at that same tank wash. It's late spring, so most tanker companies should be hiring right now.

Oh, and Airgas is hiring bulk tanker drivers out of their Jefferson facility. Don't know if you have enough experience, but showing up and making a good impression can often mean more than experience when it comes to hiring.
