    Midland/Odessa Digs

I'm headed to Midland at the end of next week, arriving in Dallas the week of the 18th, and in Midland the 25th of June, I'll have two weeks to locate more permanent housing somewhere within a half hour of Midland, starting more or less the first week of July.

It looks mighty hard to find a place to rent. Any ideas, thoughts, nearby towns crossroads, farms, or other places to look would be much appreciated. Might as well start now, or I'll be paying way too much for a crappy hotel room for way too long.

    Thanks!

Looks like I'm in. Start orientation in Dallas on the 25th for a week, then up to Midland. Looks like You, Heartbreaker and myself will all be starting roughly about the same time

We moved here in mid-February. Couldn't find any apartments in Odessa with a waiting list shorter than 3 months. Finally found a place in Midland, but it was occupied and wouldn't be available for one month. Seeing no other options, we took it. Vacancies occur regularly but they have a shelf life of about 3 hours. Most complexes have waiting lists. If you want to move up the list you'll probably have to pre-apply or place a small refundable deposit to stay high on the list. Weidner manages several complexes in Midland/Odessa. If a particular complex of theirs can't help you, they will usually put you in touch with a sister property. It's not easy to find a vacancy, but iit's definitely doable. Persistence and patience are key.

What did you do while you were waiting it out? I'm thinking about maybe tenting it out for a few weeks shouldnt be too bad
