Does this illegal running go for all milk-hauling outfits? Or just some no-name operations that attempt to fly underneath the radar.

I was looking at getting on with a bigger outfit that hauled out of the Clovis NM area and just serviced the surrounding area.
It is more of a way to just get myself into a local job in a different area so I could establish some form of residence there.

Oh man I like milk but now hearing it from the cows mouth sort of to say.I'll probably second guess that also.
I'm not a big beef consumer but once I seen the pink slim I quite that too. I do think people are out to fill their bank accounts and never to do the right thing. You have a good day thank you.

Hey bulletproof, when did you work for the Portuguese Mafia (KCTL)? That was my first milk hauling job in 1994. KCTL paid $11.75 hr, union scale with no time and a half after 8. I tried to get a job with DCCA but they had a deal with JR. not to hire any of his drivers.

I did the milk gig until 2005 and I made my best money with the independant outfits, Thayer trucking and Two B Trucking. Two B got bought out by Aartman who got bought out by Ruan, and I believe Thayer left the milk business AFAIK. Nice equipment but ran your tail off.

And 10-4 on the "My kid needs a new Lexus". Some of the big dairy's milk barns in the central valley looked like the Taj Mahal.

1990-92 out of the Pomona KCTL., after the dairyman screwed CMP right out of business. Thayer left the business a long time ago, too many bad accidents and he sold his dairy. Ruan currently is paying around $12 an hour here and a BUNCH of "free" time. A lot of them relocated to New Mexico where they could get there milk hauled even cheaper. When Mancebo died, the daughter tried to make a go of it, then sold it all to Ruan. The few remaining Chino dairies tried running their own trucks, but they couldn't keep people even. And to "bentsrider", I am familiar with that company in Clovis. They are one of the ones that started the "price war", so don't expect much. With those outfits, there is no such thing as the word "no"...It is very much a Portagee Mafia...And yes, I spelled that that way intentionally..Dairymen will shake one hand, then reach in your pocket with the other..And then there are outfits like Orozco Trucking...Learn to speak Spanish...you'll need it.

I don't remember Thayer owning any Dairys But I do remember Orozco trying to steal our accounts with his two horse operation. Ruan now owns 3/4 of the milk tanker outfits from what I've heard. They must be like the CRE of the milk industry now. "Two B" was a good company but like so many others screwed the pooch and sold out. We were part of Aartman when I left, and I see they went the way of the Dodo as well.

I don't care who you haul milk for, you will run illegal. It is the 'nature of the beast". You go sit around a dairy for hours trying to get unloaded and log it as you do it, the 14 hour rule will catch you before you know it. And weight wise, just be prepared to dodge a few scales.

Some of Gene Thayers relatives had a big dairy off of Riverside Avenue in Chino. He used to house a couple of trucks there. I well remember those triple digit white Peterbilts. Anorio Orozco used to be my relief driver at CMP. After KCTL folded, he started that outfit, and he is not a 2 horse outfit anymore. He's got tons of tankers and is moving into cheap freight..Ruan does=CRE now.

Oh yes...I remember "doming it out" many times. Dairyman in background saying..."But you HAVE to take it all"....And then "pushing water" so that you don't make a mess in their barns..

I remember talking to some of the old CMP drivers back then, and all of them said they made top $$$ back in the day before KCTL took over. I've spent many a long nights at the Artesia plant sleeping in a day cab. Don't miss that part at all, and the holidays were murder.
