    Tips for the Mountains?

Well this will be my first trip though the Royal Gorge, I bobtail from KC to South Carolina. Then get to pull a smooth bore tank back through it. I'm still pretty green and have pulled tanks before but nothing through Mountains...any tips and trips Super Truckers?

old rule of thumb is to not rely on your jake but to go down the hill in the same gear you went up it at least until you know the road and what it is like. My advice is the same as was given me by my trainer over 20 yrs ago: "let all the super truckers go around you, thats what the passing lane is for. You have the rest of your life to get to the bottom of the hill". Put your hazards on, go slow and stab brake.

Go fast, turn left. No wait, That's NASCAR.

Just go slow, take your time. The few seconds or minutes you may gain by trying to speed through the mountains isn't worth getting killed or killing someone over. Sometimes while going through the pigeon river gorge in i-40 I have a line of trucks behind me cussing me for everything I'm worth on the cb.

With a smooth bore tank,i wouldn't try the red bit.
Or you might be in for a very unenjoyable ride.(might even be seasick in the mountains, lol)
