I read some of the posts about loading and such. Getting the right amount of product on with the right distribution throughout the trailer seems like one of the big challenges and can easily be jacked up. Only experience and a knack for it would be required; I can see that. I am sure there are other things to consider for sure.

I'm wanting to go back to dry bulk ( been doing the liquid tank home every night thing and not really caring for it) been thinking of a&r either as company or o/o but I've heard the place has gone down hill since Jim sold out, has it gotten worse or better? I don't wanna be one of those driver who starts then quits and keeps jumping ship until something good comes around.

Its like anywhere some good some bad. but i personally have no real complaints. They have went out of their way to accommodate me on personal life changes and such. never once hearing anything but " we will get it taken care of for you" that alone says alot to me. is they job hard? yes. is their easier ways to make money? im sure their is, but as for as the company and terminal managers going out on a limb or doing what they need for you is far beyond anything i ever expected.

I don't go to Atlanta much. Those guys handle most of their own freight. It's a lot of out and back. A few of the guys make good use of the grill in the evenings. No other terminal has better fellowship than that one IMO. I can't tell u what to expect out of their as far as pay goes but the terminal manager seems to be a good guy.

I love the job and the challenge that comes with it. But the condition of the equipment is what I think drives more people away from here than anything. Some people get a truck that just can't stay running but everyone running system freight is thrown the challenge of neglected trailers. When a trailer has air leaks, your job just became more difficult......experience will teach you how to overcome the challenge but the problem shouldn't exist to begin with. In the end you ask yourself is it worth it. It's been worth it for me going on 2 years but barely. The money is great but at a substantial sacrifice to my family. If your willing to stay out over 3 weeks at a time then 70k is easy with experience.

I agree that money is great with sacrifices, but i stay out 2 weeks at a time, and grossed mid-$70k's. The only time I stay out longer is by my choice when I need to change up my weekends off. 2x this year so far, maybe once more, but when I do, I will get thru the house for at least one night.
