One note is you will be paid any dentention over 2 hours at any shipper or reciever and that includes A&R run facilities. This is and always has been the way it is. fill out a delay form and send it over the qualcomm as well. If the driver doesn't know this his fleet manager should do a better job communicating but its back by corporate and discussed.

A&R Ft Worth, TX is a nice terminal with both O/O and Comp. trucks/drivers. it's really booming there in regards to freight and they have local, regional, and system freight.

A&R Highlands, TX is mostly O/O trucks/drivers compared to Comp. with roughly 90 O/O and 20 Comp trucks. They run mostly Regional and System freight.

The system or system drivers are usually expected to run out for 2 weeks and some stay out for 3-4 weeka or so. Like Shanbone says and I've seen there is money to be made here and depending on your location that may be staying out for periods of time if their terminal doesn't have much local or regional freight like his in Baton Rouge where other terminals drivers dont have to stay out as long.

A&R has always got people home when they need to get home. Its 1 of the main reasons most of us came here and stayed here. If you run for them they will sens you home and get you home sometimes even with big deadhead.

The new management is not from driver mill trucking companys. They come from UPS, American Commercial Lines, Prime Distribution (the warehouse company not the trucking company), Clark Power Group, and 1 think one spent some time at Schnieder.

Hope this help and good luck to you

Hey thanks a ton Fueltank for the info, but what is system ?? Is that all 48 ?? This is a huge move I'm considering. I work for Land O Lakes here in Tulare, Ca., I've been here 12 years, home everyday hauling milk making 65,000 to 75,000 every year with all the benefits and a 100% company paid Teamsters union pension. I'm just sick of California and want to live back in San Antonio, tx. Land O Lakes needs drivers bad right now too !!!!

local = home pretty much every night and weekend. This consists od doing 1-2 loads per day usually between 50-100 loaded miles per. Some terminals like Morris,Il the local drivers can do up to 3 loads in a day.

regional = home a couple night thru the week depending on where you live in regards to the terminal and home most if not every weekend. This consists of running some local freight listed above but also doing 3-4 loads a week that are 175-250 loaded miles per. Some longer some shorter and it veries by terminal some.

system = running 2 weeks, which is stay out your first weekend and get home by your second weekend. Depending on your terminal if its located within the freight network you may get home or through your home terminal a few times during your system time. This is why a number of the drivers just stay in the system indeffinately because they stay loaded and get home enough. 80-85% of A&R's freight is run East of the Mississippi. They do run out west from time to time but from what I gather its only 3-5 times a month.

The OO trucks out of Highlands and Baton Rouge are home more often as they run more out and back than the company trucks at this time.

We have a driver who lives in San Antonio and he has been here for a long time. He runs out of our Ft Worth terminal and works close with out Highlands terminal. He stays out 2-3 weeks at a time and is always one of the highest paid drivers in the company.

I think you have a good deal with the insurance and pension and A&R cant beat those 2 things but you could make that money or more but again living in San Antonio you won't get home every night either. So it looks like you may have to give up somethings to gain some other things.

Whatever you end up doing best of luck to you.

    Trucker Smith Thanks this.

Thanks again, they told me last week I was approved through safety and I would be getting a call from terminal manager for interview. That was a week ago and haven't heard a word and they definitely don't answer their phones !!
