Hello fellow truckers in Texas. I'm just doing some research on the dump hauling biz and wondering which trailers are most in demand or which ones are most popular in general here in Texas- belly dump or end dump trailers?
I don't know which one is more in demand but just from my limited observations around some of the aggregate pits I see more end dump trailers.
Thanks for your input!
Texas Dump Haulers- what is in more demand- belly/bottom or end dump trailers?

Around here its alot of end dumps , due to the fact end dumps can stock pile better than having a belly dump string it out and need a loader to push it up, and with a end dump it gives you more options on what you can haul..

I have a year in belly dumps..... they are preferred over end dumps for road base building and access to well sites. Freight was very competitive, lots of players and modest work loads. ( Waco area ) The doors were a pain too. Been know to open by themselves......and they can be bent easily.
I'd say an end dump would be more flexible....but I never looked at the numbers with tip over insurance etc.

Having been in Midland since Sept. I dont' see too many end-dumps. Lots of bellys..( most independent & of Mexican decent ). I prefer end for all the right reasons. If you come here as an independent..plz know your broker, etc. The guys I'm working for are having problems getting paid by the biggest quarry/pit folks in Odessa. Hard to believe...but Jones Bros pays VERY slow. E-mail me ifyou need a good hand. Perfect CDL / record(s).

Ive been on a belly for a while as well chalupa...we got chains we can throw on our doors so if they do open by mistake...wheather its a mistake by hitting a switch or a electric malfunction , they'll stay cloised. I know alot of bellys are being used in oil fields to make pads and ####....its easier than end dumps to build a pad...both have pros and cons...

Ya I always chained mine for a long haul........ what I couldn't believe was for all the dirt, dust and waiting was the rates! Outrageous! I was glad more than once that I was retired. I'd hate to have to eat off what I was paid.
We did a lot of pad work and road building, belly was perfect for that and I think they are cheaper than an end dump too. No matter, I rented mine as a % of the load. Worked out better that way especially in the rainy season.
I remember we were building a bridge on hwy 6....stupid contractor ordered 50 belly's on a turn starting at 6am so we all loaded out the night before.......and showed up...together......and there was one maintainer ! Just 1 ! Took me best part of 3 hrs to get to dump.......
All in all it was fun....cheap but fun. Guess it's just like regular trucking huh?HeWhoMustNotBeNamed Thanks this. -
I'm wondering about calling some of the aggregate pits around to see if they know which is most in demand and then I will want to know which make/model is most popular.

The company I work with has 47 belly dumps hauling out of the New Braunfels area. We are always busy, seems like bellys are more in demand right now for oil field. Cps lightweight is the best we have found.
