I know this is second hand, but a guy that went to my CDL school works for them. He drives a dedicated load from Texas to Michigan and back every week. He says that he grosses about $1200 a week. He told me that it is an easy job, no problems.

That's about right for a tanker yanker. It is a good job; don't understand why drivers shy away from it.

If i had achnace, i'd get Schni reefer exp for 6months, then tanker training and exp another 6....then find a good fluid haulin outfit; anyhow, Schni OTR 48 teams is easy money, eas coast regionals pays better than wes coast, warehousing drops is a cake job, dedicates have high turnover for slow maneuver-city driving screwups....but if you want more money, tank yanking is the way to go...unless you wanna haul packaged food instead. Thankyou, have a nice day, and be safe.

Ignorant post. It is easier to roll them over. You have to go slower. They pay you a decent wage so there is no need to be in a hurry. Billy Big Rigger need not apply for everyone's safety.

Did you take the job? How do you like it if you did? How is the pay?

If you're going to be paid percentage, you've got to watch those dead head miles. That alone can kill you. I personally think that the chemical tanker companies are pretty
much the same. It all depends on how you're going to be treated and all boils down to personal experiences.
I'm leased on with Transport Service out of Pasadena, TX and for the moment, I'm sticking with mileage pay. Not that I don't think percentage is a good idea, but that I don't have a lot of faith at the moment with dispatch. A lot of changes and once it all settles down, then I may go Percentage. But if you're going to go percentage and certainly with our company, dedicated runs are no good as you deadhead back to the terminal empty. I won't even do that on mileage pay. There"s a learning curve. IMHO
better to go mileage pay until you have learned the ropes. Don't fall into the trap of assuming percentage pay is the best just because everyone is doing it.
It's what you find comfortable in doing. I'm a bit surprised that service Transport don't offer alternatives to percentage.
    Good luck.

Been doing tankers for about 18months now and would never go back to a van. The pay is a little better and you get paid for a lot of stuff van haulers don't. Get retention pay while waithing to load and unld. tankwash pay,and layover pay.
