On the 24th of last month I passed all my tests and started my background check for hazmat, also passed tanker and doubles/triples. Been looking into either local LTL P&D city driving or doing fuel delivery.

Figured I'd ask about eagle transport out of the Jacksonville area. I applied to them and Gemini, just haven't been able to get ahold of anyone at both places to see if they've reviewed my application.

I know gemini pays by the load though I'm sure it differs from place to place since i applied for the Ocala, FL position. Though I was reading on eagles site and say they guarantee $600/week based on a 6 day work week. I'm guessing that they pay salary and maybe that's the base pay? Anyone work for eagle care to chime in, I'm sure their drivers get paid more than that and hopefully aren't having to work 6 days a week.

    Just wanted to ask

600 a week to haul fuel is sickening, i would work 2 days a week hauling fuel for that pay!

not working out out over at lonestar? I thought I read that you had trouble getting hometime?

Yeah that's what I thought, I'm thinking that if they have you come in but you don't work a full shift you're still guaranteed a paycheck or something but that's what I thought too. Hauling fuel should pay WAY more than that. I'm hoping gemini calls me soon.

Also yes, lone star is a good company but not if you want to be home often, and when I say often I mean once a month. I was out 6 weeks last time and was given flak about wanting to be home for a week. It was my aunts birthday and I'm a very family oriented person so I'm wanting to go local. I also have a girlfriend now and wanting to be home even more.

I'm in the same boat sir, I'm home on the weekends for 34 hours give or take a few and wish I was home nightly...

It's tough to find local jobs that want to pay any kind of $$$ unless you find a certain niche' because everyone thinks they have to trade off money for home time so they go and accept crap rates for more time at home...

That's what I did, I screwed up when I went to work for PFG. $500/week take home pay for working my Butt off 4 days a week. Working all kinds of crazy hours and sometimes working 18-20 hour days and only getting $120 or so for it. No thanks.

Now I'm trying to get into the good paying local jobs. I got my Hazmat, Tanker, and doubles/triples so I'm going to apply for fedex freight if Gemini doesnt call me soon. If Eagle calls me I'll ask them about the pay, because If i'll be making 600-800 a week gross pay hauling fuel 4-5 days a week, no thanks.

I'll look into them also then. I'm holding out for now waiting for eagle or gemini to call me before I plunge into LTL. I really want to haul fuel

Fuel hauling isn't the holy grail it once was. Most major oil companies have dumped their trucks. And the regional bulk haulers have bid the rates down, down and down some more trying to get the work.

And being a new guy be ready for night , weekend and holiday work. But at least your home every day......

Like I said to you a while ago construction hauling is a hard gig to beat . At least up here.....

Yeah eagle pays night shift differential, though I'm not sure if gemini does. Either way I just want to do it because it would be easier work for more or the same pay as LTL I suppose though I'm unsure.

I'm just looking to get local and may end up going to LTL depending on the pay of the fuel companies I applied to.
