Well I guess I'll keep this going for others in the future.
I took the job and begin orientation on Sat.the 23rd. 3 1/2 days in their Joliet terminal.
Because of the holiday( Thanksgiving, for you Canadians) on thursday This will run Sat, sun, mon. and 1/2 day tuesday pays $100. a day. And then It'll be 7-10 days of training. Was offer the stay at the Comfort Inn but I'm only about 30 min. away so I'll just drive each day. Dont really have much more yet, But I'll say this in the last 3 days I have had calls from several different people with QDI from the Tampa and Chicago offices just checking in with me and wanting to answer any new questions I might have.
    So far I'm impressed

Orientation is over, My class started with 2 of us, And I'm the only one who finished. 1st did my app. online back in june/july? not sure exactly and about a week later had a 3 party firm calling me with questions about background and work history, I answered all her questions but never herd back from them so I figured I didn't meet their criteria. Jump to November and got a call from there Tampa office wondering if I was still interested. They had me update my app. a couple days later sent me for a physical, drug screen and lung test. then 2 days after that I'm sitting in orientation, really moved pretty quickly.

Going good, should be assigned a truck this week.
Training has been longer than expected( not my doing) just a lot of days of no pumping or airing off loads, With all the holidays off, And I've just been
moving tankers from tank washes and pre loading( means no touch the customer does everything) for otr drivers.
But even though there's been little hands on for me I've been able to learn a lot of our customers and and figured out how they want things done. The paperwork and using a blackberry for elogs is another story

Found out yesterday that getting on the Ohio turnpike (loaded) is a little tricky, left Toledo with 78,000, I roll up to toll booth and the overweight light flashes and gate would not open, Lady says I'm overweight and can not enter turnpike???????? Iv'e run the turnpike several times before with a loaded tanker and never a problem
"WTF" She lets me thru the gate but only to make a u turn and get off.
So I call dispatch and let them know I'm going to be a little later than I had told them, And explained what was happening and thats when I learned that, The movement, shifting or slosh of the product was causing the overweight light to go on, So approaching and pretty much stopping before the toll and then rolling at a snails pace is basically what I needed to do, Lesson learned.

PA Pike also weighed the truck so set the weight class, heavy loads paid a higher toll. I had older drivers who could time the load's motion and manage to trick the scale into the next lowest weight class and pay less than they should.
