I think it is just the result of them not wanting to lose drivers over small stuff. Driver retention is an actual goal here, not just something they say. I have every toll pass you can get, literally. Things like that, it just makes you feel appreciated. Makes me want to protect my job and therefore our brand. It just amazes me, I came from a company where every decision had to come from corporate, here the local managers have power and they use it. It seems to work better when those you know can get things done.

Looking forward to reading your posts. I see they have other bulk work besides just liquid. Are the other product lines part of the elite fleet?

We are only set up for Chemical at the moment. Dry bulk and crude are planned for the future.

I don't know Schneider and its corporate culture but I have found in other organizations a constant shifting of blame upwards for any unpopular decision. Ask your supervisor for a raise, an invertor or new steer tires and its never him who refuses, its always the guys above him. "Its not in the budget." The best organizations empower their workers to make decisions that impact performance up and down the management chain. The lower that empowerment goes the better. Hire people who are capable of making a correct decision that matches predetermined goals and allow them to do it. Measure performance on the bottom line and get rid of the people who don't measure up. The less levels to the top the better. Mega companies wind up with a lot of levels.

Sounds like you have found a company that allows its terminal managers to make decisions and spend money to make money.

I've been impressed with my boss so far. He is one of those guys that just seems to make stuff happen. I believe in his vision of what the Elite team is for. It is nice to be able to rely on the people you know.

My last check after taxes was over 1900 bucks!!!! The pay is awesome! The company has its quirks but man you can't complain about that check.
