I started at 3:30 this morning.I do like my hours,I do one round and im done.I asked Linda and dispatch if they can just keep me on one round they said they would.
Hey patty, did you figure out your loading chute dilemma? You'd think there would be some kind gizmo to lower the chute into the tank. Maybe your 5th wheel hook? I'm sure it's a mess, and they have those black vertical stripes on the sides for a reason.(spillage) Be careful up there!
So I start work 830 loaded left 915 on my way to Mount Vernon,SD,163 miles. The customer was suppose to meet me at exit 319 on I-90.Call dispatch which then calls the cust telling him im waiting.Im going to have to cancel the load I got rained out he says. Why don't ppl look at radar before the driver even leaves.Heck I looked at the weather and had a feeling it was going to rain there, was like a 70% chance around that area. This guy didn't cancel till I got there. So brought the load back to Sioux City.Going to try it again tomorrow.Safety said jokingly im suppose to deliver loads not bring them back, lol.

Hi p, jeez, I don't know, but after reading all your posts, it sure seems like this job is a P.I.T.A. I give you a lot of credit for trying, but by now, with rain and cancelled loads and all, I'd probably tell them "see ya".

At least its paid hourly. Those canceled loads en-route would suck worse paid percentage.

You have to exspect the unexspected in the construction field.I've only had one load cancelled so far.But I still got paid as if ld didn't get cancelled.Come winter i'll get paid $750.00 a week reguardless.Thats awhole lot better then what unemployment benefits would pay.I had to work today because of that load getting cancelled.I took it back to jobsite.
Hi p, jeez, I don't know, but after reading all your posts, it sure seems like this job is a P.I.T.A. Ive heard from other drivers that they're making good money getting percentage.I'd rather keep my hourly pay and hrs.I do one round which is 6 to 9 hrs depending how far it is then im done and start lately around 8 am.

    Howdy stranger... :mwink:
I read thru this whole thread and glad to see you got tarred, but they failed to feather ya so far.
I haven't been on TTR in quite awhile, as my "path" the last 10 months has run similar to yours.
After about a month long hiring process,, finally today was my first day on the new job. I'm back to driving a concrete mixer. Good pay if I don't get slowed down by rainouts and weather the next few months. It's nice not to worry about the ol' crappy mileage pay and delays/waiting time to where your working hours head toward minimum wage-ish at the end of the week.

Keep us posted on how it's going for ya! And now that I'm back,, I hope ol' Dinomite shows some brotherly hospitality and gives up at least 2 days of the week he sees ya, for you to get caught up with ME. lol Seriously, I hope Ray is doing well also.

Hey there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nice seeing you back on the forum.I tried to reply from my cell 3 times while getting unloaded but lost signal. Thanks for your support as well as everyone else on this thread.I applied for a concrete mixing job last summer.Kind of glad they didn't hire me,you guys work hard.I know what you mean not having to worry about milage or paid so much per load. Most the drivers do get paid per load but everything non driving they get hourly rate. I've heard they're making more then what I am but that's alright,I rather stay at getting paid hourly. Its getting easier,I finally overcame my fear loading.I dreaded every morning loading but now if I need help its to put the bucket back on the hook of the shoot so asphalt doesn't drip.Today that bucket was half full and very heavy. The shop brought a clean buket. But anyway i'm still liking what I do and mainly I like the ppl I work with.Nobody has pizzed me off yet and that's a major plus, lol.Ray is doing well. He's not liking me working for 2 reasons,he misses my cooking and during the week we never see eachother.I keep telling him get use to it,lol.Dinomite is too cranky for me,he feels intimidated because I work a lot harder then he does, lol.

i hope someone told you that a hot oil tank has baffles... when it is empty take a look inside you'll see them... but the oil will still move front to rear some,,,, but the oil will still climb the side of the tank if you go around curves to fast.... it's like the old saying " you can go down the mountain to slow any number of times, but you might make it down going to fast" ... always allow more space between you and the person in front of you,, start slowing sooner, and always keep your foot firmly on the brake when at stop lights (don't want the slosh to knock you into the intersection or the vehicle in front of you.... practice these skillswith your baffled tank and if you ever pull a smooth bore tank you will be all set... good luck and welcome to the wonderful world of tanker yanking...

    gunny out:occasion5:
