So I get to the paper mill today, appointment is at 1300 and they tell me that they are shut down and the tanks can't take the product, try back 1300 tommorow. I've been doing this same load for a week by the way, Knoxville to Cincy. So i say okay call it in and go park. But here is the thing, it's all detention, by the time I unload and leave tomorrow it will be 24 hrs. 390 bucks just to sit. I'm parked next to a Chipotle, I have 4G and several new movies. Sometimes, trucking just works out!

I had one like that a few years ago. Grabbed a load off our Kingsport yard that delivered the next morning about 100 miles away. A driver based there wanted to go home so I agreed to do it. I still had a couple of hours left on my clock so I headed that way. Got a call from dispatch on the way asking if I could deliver it that day saying they had to have it now. I said sure knowing it would strand me at the plant since it was a pump unload.
I got there and the plant guy told me the unloader had left for the day and wouldn't be back until in the morning. Got paid for sleeping at the plant that night. There was a strip mall with a grocery store and several restaurants right across the street.yuban Thanks this. -
Had a customer write me a personal check a couple of weeks ago for $350 for waiting an extra day. Did not give the company any extra.
