    Hello all,

I live in Las Vegas and will have two year otr in October. I see pulling tankers as the way I would like to move to, but do not have any tank experience. My preferences would be a day (hours do not matter to me) job or one that could be out and back in a couple of days. I am trying to move to more of a normal schedule with my family while making a decent living. I am leaning towards the fuel haulers for now but am open to all advice. Would like to know of any good companies to work for and of any that I should avoid in the Las Vegas area.

    Thank you,
    Raca

ps. I do have all my endorsements.

Apex Bulk Commodities - $18 - $22 hr. plus overtime after 40 hrs.

    Pan Western Transportation

    Clean Harbors

    Sherman Bros.

    Foodliner - terminal in Henderson

Check the truck stops and ask which companies deliver their diesel fuel.

in addition to what Chinatown said, I would also look for local chemical companies with their own fleet. That's dedicated trucking in its most purest form, typically out and back. It's what I do, and I do about 2-4 tens in the truck weekly, home every weekend and know my schedule a week in advance. I don't know if they're all like that, but it would seem to be the nature of that kind of gig.

Might want to check out West Coast Bulk (a division of Bulk Transportation).

Hauls mostly lime from Apex and occasionally sand from Overton NV. Stays mostly in the tri-state area. Decent outfit, I've been with them for about two years running out of Kingman- really can't find anything to complain about.

    Raca Thanks this.

I would start with Fredrickson on Sloan ave right at the pipeline. The do the most hiring for drivers outside the system. Plus they are connected with all the players there and can direct you in the right way. Another reason would be their offices are right there and easy to get to. I used to know the guy to go to Jim Gentry but I don't know if he's still around. The pay will be the lowest but they do all kinds of gasoline hauling. Never overnight but they do get out there. You can also try Rebel but that kind of a family operation there. You just have to go out there and ask. Forget using the phone because when we were running hard there we did not list our phone number to the outside.

My thanks to all for the replies. I just pulled back in town and talked to a driver from Pro-Petroleum while filling up the truck. He said he thought they might be hiring, so I will add them to the list to check out also.

You could always try Haycock Petroleum on Sloan next to Kinder Morgan.

Im getting ready to relocate to BHC and was looking at Bulk in Kingman. Do they do local or is everything OTR?
I'm currently working pnematic in Nashville, TN hauling cement, flyash, and other stuff. Have about 4 years experience.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

I'm out of Kingman. We do regional from there, mostly Morenci AZ or occasionally Green Valley AZ. Morenci is our longest run, just under 900 mi R/T and we get plenty of time to do it in. We also run to Mineral Park and Bagdad AZ, although for some reason those load out of Apex NV. Morenci usually loads out of Nelson, about 60 miles east of Kingman. Most of our drivers are home every night. While we do have a few drivers that have varying routes, odds are good that you will have a set schedule. I've been doing Morenci 3X per week for 2 years. Every now and then they will throw me a curve but for the most part it's nice and predictable.

Kingman is a satellite yard- that is, there is no office there to speak of. The home office is in Adelanto CA. A few times a month the terminal manager or maintenance manager will come out and chat with us but for the most part we are on our own.

Equipment is decent enough, nothing flashy but it gets the job done. FYI, Kingman is actually West Coast Bulk which is a division of Bulk Transportation. The pay varies depending on which division you work for. WCB drivers are on percentage and Bulk drivers are on mileage.

They like you to have doubles / triples and HazMat endorsements even though lime (we mostly haul lime, but occasionally sand) is not classified as HazMat. With a decent driving record you shouldn't have any problems being hired. Training is good and not hurried. If you aren't already, you will have to be MSHA certified. Of course you get paid for all the training.

You can call Mark at 877 843 0774 if you are interested.
