Always dump the rear trailer first, always.

Always check your mirrors when you hit your brakes, especially if your empty or the roads are slick. Always.

Always clean off your gates before pulling on to the roadway. Always.

I'm about to start a dump trucking gig as well, what's with the double dumb trailer? Why not just pull a long end dump?

From what i hear the reason double bottoms are in favor is because they can haul more n the weights more spread out on the axles. They can carry up to 28.5 tons depending on the type of trailer. Plants in the Bay area love double bottoms cause their easier to drop straigjt into the pit without makin a mess.

Its because they can get in n out of plant that are limited on room. The free plus is it impossible to over load the axle weights as long as you do not over gross. Yhey cann turn around in less than half the length of a semi.

I had a question for dump truckers. I'm about to start my new job as a dump trucker and looking for advice on how to stand out as a great worker. Are there things I can do that a regular driver won't do? Also the I was asking the lady about hours and she told me if I wanted more hours I could let her know and she would have me running stockpile. What exactly is running stockpile? Forgive my ignorance I know nothing of dump Truckin.

Things u could do that I woukd say is, be on time, don't drive really fast on the job sites. Clean ur rig as clean as u can. Its hard to keep dump trucks clean but its worth it. Shows professionalism and that ur not a driver thats here for the day to rip the truck around then park n leave. Stockpiling is when ur pretty much just going in circles all day. Moving material from one side of the job site to anther. Its nice easy n chill but gets boring . But if its just on like Saturdays then I'd take it. Easy money brotha

I appreciate the advice and I hope that I'll really enjoy doing this kind of work because I just really didn't not enjoy septic hauling or being on call 24 hours. Just 2 nights ago I had clocked out @ 9pm after working 14 hours, drove the 1 hour commute home and my boss called me to turn around and head back to the yard, I said not no but hell no. And that's happened to me quite a bit, I'd get off get home jump in the shower and then have to go right back to work. Just don't think I'm cut out for 24 hours a day. But where I work is not a trucking company, it's an oil field rental company so they don't know anything about trucking. But who knows I could be in for one hell of a surprise this coming Monday, but if so then I'll just have to suck it up and be a man.
