I just got into doing dry bulk work. Which, in my opinion is a lot better than chasing freight. I am getting paid a flat rate for each load . I have decent equipment and am home . But, I do like this type of trucking. I would not go back to LTL. Life is good.

Is this tanker work or trailer. The reason I ask if you like doing dry bulk then you will love doing chemical tanker. Hourly pay with early start times and less wait times. Off wknds and holidays. Well if you find the right company. I agree with the freight business and I also will never go back to freight.

It is dry bulk pneumatic tankers. I deliver resin and plastic pellets. trailers have 4 hoppers and I have a blower and pto on my tractor. It's loud. I do local work and get home at the end of the day. But I do work 2 weekends a month. That being a Saturday or a Sunday. But still when I get to my destination customers are glad to see me cause their silos are going empty. Not like with freight. I do usually 2 loads a day sometimes three. But, I like this type of work better than freight.

I started off with freight and after I left I swore to myself that I would never go back. Yes it's totally different from freight especially when the consignee is happy to see you "ALL THE TIME"!!! Chemical is the same with some exceptions. Your ate required to wear ppe that may include (chemical gloves, chemical boots with steel toe or just steel toe boots. Chemical jacket/pants, hardhat with face sheild and sometimes goggles). The noise is still there but it's not as loud as those pto blowers used for dry bulk . With chemical you build your pressure up to whatever (usually 20psi) but some companies go to 30-35psi. Hook up the hose and let it go. You don't adjust anything but the hose if you have a leak. But all and all if you're happy then that's all that matters.

Been doing dry bulk for about 2 years now- wish I had gotten into it much earlier in my career. Quick loads, plenty of time to get where it's going and the mines are open 24/7 so I can deliver whenever. Hook up a few hoses, turn on the blower, build some pressure, open a valve and watch the gauges for an hour. Done.

It's steady, predictable, pays quite well and has none of the BS associated with general freight or produce hauling.
