I was reading in this article about the flamabilty of hydraulic fluid see (c). I am looking to buy a truck that has a terrible weld on the hydraulic reserve tank and if there is enough pressure in the tank and the weld fails could the fluid atomize resulting in a fire as descibed in the article

    Thanks

There should be ZERO pressure in the reserve tank, it should be vented and should never have any pressure applied to it.

If there is pressure in the tank, then you have problems with the design or in need of repair of the system.

ridgeline is correct , there should not be any pressure in the oil reservoir.... also, just looking at picture #2 i would do two things to the system... one there should be a valve between the tank and fluid suction line, in case of a hose failure to stop the fluid from draining out of the tank... two the suction line should be rerouted up farther from the ground before it is snagged on something....
