have to just love the "safety cones" around the truck, when loading crude at night, when NOBODY else is around.... or even in the middle of a sunny day, where you may see another truck drive by....
Or how if that safety cone was put infront of your truck, that taylor double would not have torn your front bumper off as he cut the corner....
stupid corporate paper pushers covering their collective behinds, and NOT actually addressing what is the problem.
and here is just how stupid it gets... pretrip includes checking that the vent caps on top of the tank are in working order... but we are not allowed to climb the ladder without a safety harness, but no safety harnesses will be issued, as the company does not want us hanging upside down in the middle of no where....and if you are seen up on the ladder or the catwalk on top of the tanks you will be fired.Raiderfanatic, chalupa and JAL1972 Thank this. -
I may be young and only had. My tanker endorsement for 2 weeks but even I see the stupidity in that one tlea

"People is stupid".

A little common sense goes a long way when it comes to safety. Just about every safety rule came about because someone stupid did something stupid.
tsavory Thanks this. -
but making a rule that does not address the actual stupidity is just plain stupid. And so many safety rules do exactly that.

at U.S.steel in Fairfield al you have to take a 10 or so safety question on loading steel coils. if you fail the test, you are locked out of sys for 24 hours. I had no prob, but if I took any test and failed & had to wait 24 hours to take again, the load would not be picked up at all by me. I would be on my happy way home !

and another thing, how come thos places requiring safety glasses, do not require those with prescription glasses to wear them? sure they have glasses but they are not safety glasses. no side shields, e.t.c. I guess if I wore a pair of dollar tree glasses they would pass as safety glasses.
