As the title says, I expect to have my CDL-A by the end of the year. I will have my Hazmat endorsement, I do have my TWIC Card, and a passport. I live in the NE. Who would you recommend as a good company to go with. I don't want to use anyone as a bus stop, I would like to start with one company and stay with them.

    Thanks in advance

Apply with Oakley Transport. They want 1 yr. experience, but as with most companies they're hurting for drivers. Trucks have APU's. Do their online application first.

Check centerlinedrivers.com website. They're a temp agency but that can lead to a good job. Might give you an idea of who's hiring.

    What city are you near?

Superior Carriers has a terminal in Springfield. They hire a few right out of school every year but are very selective. All company drivers make the same pay rate so its real good for those right out of school when compared to training companies. Only place I know where you can start at .50 per mile without experience.

Yes, definitely check Superior Carriers and also Trimac.

Bay & Bay hires new CDL grads and has a tanker division.

Indian River Transport sometimes hires new CDL grads.

Man that's not the best area for Tanker work. Superior would be best in my opinion, if we, Trimac, have a terminal up there then I don't know where it is. I dont even think Schneider hires for bulk up there.

Thanks for your input - I have been talking with Superior and I like what they say. The terminal Mgr told me to wait til I get near finishing my schooling and then apply. In that connection - I got my Learners permit today, and passed my Tanker and Hasmat endorsements. Feeling very good about now.

    Regards

Hal, Sorry I have not been back in touch been a little busy with truck driving school and getting the house on the market to sell.

Good to see you have been moving forward on the CDL.
I just set my test date for 12/6/14 but could be a little sooner if someone does not “pre-test” well.

Chinatown and others you listed tankers is that because of Hal380 said he has his TWIC card, passport and will get his HAZMAT? I know I have seen some Dry Van (local LTL) Co’s want you to have HAZMAT and guess it does not hurt to have a TWIC card.
