Uh-Oh. OK, so now how do they handle it? Do they pump it out of the tank and ship it back to the refinery to be re-refined, or is it just totally "wasted product?" Guess it isn't hard to see how little I know about the fuel industry. . .

They have top ump and clean the tank and re-refine the mix. Takes a little time, insurance pays it and pays for time station is down.

By and large its a waste product that some outfits will buy at a discount rate. You can't do much with the mix and the racks will not touch it, certainly not where I live in TX. I've heard that there are companies that can actually separate the diesel from the gas, but it's an expensive process.
It depends on the trucking company. If it's a one time deal, he may well keep his job but if it's a repeat, then he's gone.
Cross dropping as we used to call it, happens quite frequently but the driver should have known. The lid covers to diesel and gas are 2 different colors.

Wonder how low it was ? Most large truck stop's tanks will hold 3 to 4 tankers. Question if they just drop more diesel in on top and call it a day. Not sure what 25 to 33% gas would do???
