semi retired and wore out got it right. Good luck but it isnt what you think as far as money. Your fellow bucket boys will under cut you steal your haul and customers and then wear their equipment out for nothing. Its a tough business. Boys gotta lot of pride though in their rigs. buckets and bull haulers are sharp as a tack. Another thing is its hard to be a small operator and compete. Shippers will let you in but on a big companies rate. When you watch five trucks weigh out of somewhere after say dumping stoker coal then u turn back across the scale and weigh in to back haul grain. It is hard to be competitive with a one or two truck outfit. The companies quote you a rate but its the big mans show and you a johnny come lately. Tough business in my part of the country. Leasing on I cant say much. Rates here are tight and an old timer told me when I first started that there wasnt enough profit in most hauls for 2 people to both have a hand in the pie. He was right. Good Luck to you!

It's bad to say but that's why I don't share info as far as who I'm pulling for or what it pays with no one. Next thing you know you see your bud has done cut you out. They may cut me out this way but at least I didn't give them the info to do it. That makes it just business no hard feelings

Wore out. you exactly rite. Ol boy over the hill come up to my door. I was a few trucks ahead of him in line. Says "I gues we are going to the same place". I told him I knew where I was a going. He says well you oughta be outta my way time I get there. I said yep. He asks me,"by the way whaT does this gig pay? Told him I had no clue what his deal was I had my own arrangement and rolled my window up. In less than six weeks he had it all anyway and lasted for about a year. Your right tell no one your business. Even then sometimes it doesnt help. Ha

I know what Highwolf89 is talking about. The trucks shown in post #17, are the kinds he's referring to, well actually that's kind of the starting point. Commonly seen in the Northeast.

Most seem to be hauling hazardous waste according to the permit markings on the trailers, I too have wondered how they can make any money, when the rigs are in the neighborhood of $250k.++ These are some of the most customized trucks I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot in my days. And you hardly ever see 'em dirty. AKA: East Coast Large Cars

The most common answer to my question, about how they can make any money, "Don't ask too many questions", oh OK, sorry I asked!
