It's the beginning of the end for fracking. The Saudi Royal Family is leading the charge in saying the USA fracking companies must be shut down. A Saudi Prince, a few years ago, predicted this and said Saudi Arabia should immediately diversify their economy, and was laughed at by the Saudi King and other oil rich Mideast countries. Saudi Arabia squandered it's wealth over the years and now it's too late even for them.

Hi Chinatown, I heard that too. It takes like $45 dollars a barrel for fracking to make any money. And we're close to that now. So many people here are blissfully unaware of that fact, and think these low gas prices are just wonderful. I'm sure gas-guzzling pickups and SUV sales have surged in recent weeks. The Saudi's aren't stupid. Even countries like Russia and Argentina's economies, who depend on oil, are in a tailspin, as I heard it takes oil prices of $100/barrel for them to make any money.
realsupatrucker, you've got plenty of experience with chemical tankers working for QC, I think you'll be able to bounce back. Good luck.

Oil prices go up, jobs. Oil prices go down. No jobs. Been that way since the first well. I'm going to enjoy low gas prices while they are here. Not going to stay that way. Sooner or later they are going back up and the jobs will return.
Nobody cared when they outsourced my job to China. All they wanted was lower prices.
I don't care if oil guys loose their jobs because of lower prices.
    Capitalism at its finest.
The only reason why fracking and other production means was started was because of the price of oil. If the price wasn't there the oil boys never would have started it in the first place.
Big oil never does anything to loose money out of the goodness of their hearts and national pride.
Everyone in oil understands that there are booms and busts. The speculation is how long one or the other last. The only thing we know is prices could go up tomorrow, the next day, a month, years. We all know sooner or later it will go back up again.

Don't feel bad about big oil they will most likely get another 10 billion or so a year of your tax money from the Fed's to help them along.

I'm up in Williston, ND all the time. The amount of new hotels and ones being built is mind blowing. I'm sure some have stopped construction. Anyone looking for a cheap camping trailer will be able to name their price any day now if not now.

Hi Skate-Board, yeah, they all sure jumped on the bandwagon. My CL used to have all kinds of trucking jobs up there, and have since been pulled. I think people thought this was going to be another "Alaska Pipeline" deal, who I know people that did that, and made a killing, but messing with the Saudi's, or big oil in general, wasn't something I had a lot of faith in. BTW, not sure how many people are into NHRA drag racing (I am) Qatar Racing Club from Saudi Arabia, a major sponsor for Al-Anabi racing, has pulled all it's funding out of the sport (over here anyway) That should tell you something.

The saudi's are trying to undermine the petrodollar. A good percentage of the world governments want the US dollar yanked as world reserve currency. China and Russia have been dumping our debt for pennies on the dollar. We thought 08',09' and 2010 was a rough patch......just wait until the world reserve currency is changed.

I think Saudi is helping us and other nations to punish Russia. They are is the worst shape in their entire history because of the price of oil. That is their major source of income.

I'm sure Williston, Minot and other ND cities are scrambling right now with contingency plans and how to handle all the abandoned hotels, man camps, camping trailers, construction projects, road work and everything else.

Has anyone been in the Loves up there. They have 6 hot dog cookers going non stop. I counted. Each one can hold 80 hot dogs for a total of 480. 8 people working the Subway counter and 8 people working the fried chicken counter.

I delivered to Wal-Mart up there. White marble crushed rock. Hottest thing on the market. Why? Because it's used to make small grey water drainage for camping trailers in the man camps. Anyways. I told the broker I wanted permission from the Wal-Mart manager to be allowed to park overnight and she said yes.

They are a 24 hour store but can't stay open 24 hours. They have a barber shop inside also so I waiting till around 7:15 and walked in. They open at 7:00. The 4 barber chair were full and 6 people waiting already. All the shelves were stocked to the max and there was pallets of food and everything else parked in the middle of every isle. The place was full in 20 minutes and all registers open. It was like a category 5 tornado was about to hit and everyone was stocking up.

McDonald's and other places starting pay is $25 an hour. The people who made out the most are the ones who lived there before the oil boom hit. People making nothing are now raking it in. Kids with part time jobs bringing in $700 a week working after school and weekends. I've talked to them and the residents there. It's crazy. People starting their own business overnight. Making meals, doing laundry, pumping trailer septic systems and charging anything they want because they can.

A sea of 24' camping trailers as far as the eye can see. You open the door and it just clears the trailer next to you. Camping trailers parked on half the residents lawns charging them for rent, water and power. Camping trailers for sale here and there for $5,000 on someones front lawn that should really be in the junk yard.

I've been going up to Williston since 2006 when it was a sleepy little town.
