    I believe gas is 6.01 lbs/gallon and diesel is 7.15 lbs/gallon.

OK that's better. 52000 in payload. Those tanks must be lighter than they look.

I just know if we haul just Gas a legal load is 8800 gallons and 7500 gallons for diesel.

Its when we carry both products that weight comes into play. I don't pay much attention unless I'm going over scales.

Unless you're loading gasoline at 60° the weight will always be different. You can look at you BOL and see the temp because you should have net and gross. The stations always get charged for net then sell it at gross. I have heard that there was a law suit in the works that would make the pump do the temp corrects but I haven't seen any yet. Depends on where you live and how your pipeline is set up, but, in Las Vegas we had such a shift in temps from winter to summer it could be a full pound or more.

Right on. I wasn't sure of the weight, I just know what we can load for a legal amount. Though we usually just load whatever dispatch wants us to take.

What was you doing on that BOL? We would have low gallons too when we had to fix a load. Our tank farm was a nightmare with ethanol. If there was a cloud in the sky you had a chance of the rack crashing. If it crashed during your loading you had to figure how much ethanol to load. It was never easy to where you just started the loading back up. The company figured that the ethanol could not be loading at a fixed percentage rate. They said the ethanol would cool the gasoline too much to load that way. So when we load we might get 25 gallons at first then the injection would wait and finish up during the last part of the load. So when the load crashed you had to get the BOL and figure how many gallons of ethanol you had to inject to make the required percentage. Anyway you have a very good example of temp differences.

It was a split load. 3800 to one store then 5000 to another, 2 BOLs

Man-O-Man don't you hate them split loads? They tried that once or twice with us. It just took too much time and it was cheaper just to hire a common carrier. Most of the time our full load of 12,450 gallons drop in the station but we did have our retains. Plus I've bumped in a few loads. Sitting there waiting for the public to buy gasoline so I'd have room in the tank. But we all know how fun it is watching the public at the station. We had one station right before you went into the airport and all the rental cars filled it up there. I got to know where all the gas caps were located on all the different models. We could all sit down and write a good book on what we've seen.
