Well, the landing gear (on this belly dump they are just legs that slide up and down) was set but the guy forgot to put the pin lock on the belly gates which the legs are attached to. So in the mud, the legs go apart and the belly gate opens up and down she goes. Resting on a partially opened gate. Too low even for a tractor with emptied air bags to get underneath.
Trying to figure out how to jack it up with jacks instead of having to get someone out there with a back ho or fork left to lift it up. Any ideas??

Hi drew, on tankers, we called those "peg legs". Is the trailer empty? Regardless, if you can't get under it, a forklift is the only way if it's empty. If it's loaded, you may need a wrecker, which isn't cheap. I'd find out who dropped it, and slap them up side the head.

We were stuffing logs into a container one day and the landing gears collapsed. Took an entire day with a pair of 20 ton bottle jacks and a whole bunch of wood blocks...jack it up, brace it, jack it up some more...until we could get back under it. Would have been cheaper in the long run if the boss had listened to me and just got a wrecker out there to lift it up, but what did I know? Anyway, with an empty trailer it would be MUCH easier, as any loader/backhoe/forklift ought to be able to pick it up. If you do resort to jacking, it'll be easier on the arms not having +30K in the nose you're trying to lift. Good luck.

is there anything over trailer? something durable? have a long chain or sturdy rope? attach one end to trailer, throw whats over head and the other end to tractor, but highly unlikely there something there

Yes the trailer is empty. Because of the mud, I guess the peg legs spread apart since the idiot didnt lock the gates before unhooking the trailer. Here is a pic of where it sits before it "sank". View attachment 77910

Yup. Would have been much cheaper in the long run to have a wrecker come out at $200-300/hour for the 30 minutes or so that it would've taken to raise the boom, wrap a strap around it, and winch it up.
...and easier on our arms, too.
