I live in southern sask, I have the oppotunity to haul NH3 for a local fert plant pulling there trailer. Do most Nh3 trailers require some sort of wet kit to unload to nurse tanks? My truck is set up for end dump currently, never even thought to ask about wet kit requirments when on the phone and they didnt mention anything. Thanks for any help.
NH3 hauling question..

You will most likely need either a "hydro-pak" to driver the pump on the trailer or a jackshaft to the back of the trailer to hook to the pump on the trailer.
-
Sorry for my ignorance, but what is a hydro pak?
-
It is similar to a wet line, it is a hyd pump on the transmission that goes thru a cooler to power a hyd motor mounted on the pump. They are sometimes set up to be reversible. See this website: http://www.gardnerdenverproducts.com/microsite_product.aspx?id=4002&n=554

Ahh gotcha, I was thinking if I need hydraulics I might be able to use my existing pto/hyd pump. Its a dump pump, 27gpm, 3000 psi. If i run it through a cooler and return it to the tank could possibly work? Guess I would need to know requirments of trailer pump.

It will depend on the GPM requirment on the trailer pump, but you should be able to adapt it to work. You will need to add the tank for the cooling portion of it since the constant running of the pump will general large amounts of heat.

Yah thats exactly what I was thinking of doing. Thanks for your help. Any idea if there are nh3 trailers that arent dependant on a truck to supply power to pump. Such as a gas powered pump or something on trailer? Prob a stupid question just curious.
-
If there are I have never seen one, there maybe some locations that use a plant pump to unload the trailer, but in my experience that was more prevalent in the propane industry (but not that common).

The roper pump is on the trailer with a shaft at front of trailer u have to have a male shaft out the back of your truck u Cary a small jack shaft with u to connect when u stop to unload u drive the shaft with your pto pump from your truck from your pto pump u can either run a shaft style to the back of your truck with a few u joints or a hydralic to turn the shaft at the back of your truck that is we're the hydra pack comes in to play both ways work fine just depends on how deep your pockets are lol . Make sence
