Anyone know anything about Ozinga either Concrete or the Bulk tanker division they have? Pay Benefits and anything else you know would be helpful... Looking at the Mokena,Illinois yard...

    Thanks

    Screw ya in what way(s)?
Do you think Prairie is any better?
(No, I don't work for Ozinga, nor know anyone there, if you're wondering)

when I worked in ready mix , there were more grievences filed against them discussed in the union meetings than any other in the local.
most were seniority issues( choosing who they want to work instead of following the senority list) or not paying the 2 hour / 8 hour rule
and no Prairie is not any better

If you can handle the layoff it is a good job. Fast pace in the summer. Yes the senior guys do complain about the seniority list, but I don't have that problem. Just happy to have a job. Benefits are good and pay is good also.

From what I've seen, don't expect a regular or livable income, unless Prairie changes their ways.
I know a driver who started with them last August, and as an example, from Feb 1 to today (almost 2 1/2 months) he has only worked 4 days total in that time.

Plus even when you call in and find you aren't scheduled to work the following day, they have you always obligated and "on call" every morning until 9am.
So that makes it hard to have a 2nd job as a "filler" for all the random off-days.

They seem to hire far more than they usually need, so the newer drivers with less than a few years seniority, end up sitting on the sidelines most of the time (unpaid), and only work when Prairie really is in a bind to have all their trucks activated, which isn't often enough from what I've seen.
