just wanted to thank everyone who gave me advice on tank and tank companies. I have decided to go with Quality Carriers and their affiliate company LMI out of South Point, OH. $50,000 my first year with a $1500 sign on bonus as a company driver. 25% of the loads to start with quarterly raises and bonuses. 1wk vacation after 180days 2wks after 365days. I will be in classroom training for a week, then hands on training for at least 3wks or until my terminal manager and I have decided I'm ready for it on my own. It will definitely be different from anything I have done and I want to be sure I know what I'm doing as well as he wants to be sure I'm sure. Thanks again for the help guys.

Good Luck with your adventure that was probably a wise decision. I always enjoyed working the tank side because I never had any trouble with consignees. You have what they want, no bunch of waiting around to deliver and for the most part was treated like a professional and pay was good to.

Great choice! Work less and get paid more, seriously doubt you'll ever pull a van again. A week's paid vacation after 180 days is a good indication of a great benefits package. You'll cringe and breathe a sigh of a relief anytime you pass a Wal Mart DC or grocery warehouse from now on.

I don't mean to be a downer here but 50k for a guy with 19 years seems low. Like 15k low at least. I know you don't have tank experience but man, 19 years is 19 years. Every man makes his choice and assigns his own value system I know and if you're happy great but I think you could do better money wise. Course you could always make a switch later on. In any event welcome to tanking, it is the best type of trucking there is.
