    Sort of anyway.

Got to the cons, a sand quarry on Lake Michigan, and the first thing the guy asks is if I have hooks because I'm sure to get stuck and will have to get dragged out by an earthmover. The roads are just graded sand. Sure enough I get halfway to the tank and sink down in. So this huge bulldozer thing hooks me up and drags me the rest of the way. I unload and they drag me back. Good thing I had two hooks cause one snapped off.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

I refuse to go anywhere where I think the truck cannot make it on its own.
Have had the jobsite call my boss then order me to and then I say I am doing it under protest and am not responsible for any damage that may occur to the vehicle.

I take as good of care of the equipment as possible, but have had the boss tell me to take a brand new fontaine 48'102" flatbed across mud at jobsite because the jobsite supervisor said that I was lying and it wasn't as bad as I said and that it was only muddy on top and had a good solid bottom..
My boss, owner of company and trucks/trailers, said do it.
I had no pull hooks on truck and sank to the axles with 48000LB of structural steel on. So then he ordered them to push.
You can imagine the damage caused by a bulldozer pushing you both loaded and empty across the mud field.
But after the boss spent around $10000+or- for damages I tried to avoid, now when I say it's to bad my boss believes me and the equipment doesn't go, but sometimes you have to teach them the hard way.

I've had dozers push and pull me out of job sites. They're easy with your trk and trailer. In MN I had to deliver to a jo site that was nothing but mud.I parked on the shoulder, walked down to the site and asked the boss if I get stuck you going to pull me out and of course I was right, half way down stuck. So he got his bulldowzer chain and pulled me right out and onto the cement. After getting unloadecI had to go right back thru that mess and he followed me to make sure I wouldn't get stuck.

First thing I did was call dispatch to make sure they really wanted me to do it. They did and being a company driver I did it.

The foreman did say "It's funny but I never see you guys twice." He was honestly puzzled. :biggrin_25523:

It is different going to sites building bridges down bulldozer trails than just regular jobsits. That was an easy load have pulled as long as 137' bridge I beams from van buren bridge and afco steel.
Next time across I540 runnin from I40 to Fayetteville Ar (old hwy71) look at the pig trail gravel roads and imagine a pole trailer run out to no more than 80' to be able to make the turns with over 50' overhang .
I can put 3' forward and still be able to turn.

I used to haul water treatment chemicals to Ocean City, Md 2 times a month or more,,the treatment plant was 2 blocks from the ocean,,After I unloaded I would leave the discharge hose hooked up the the receiving connection, change clothes and go hang out on the beach the rest of the day,,(in the summer time)

I've never thought twice about turning my rig in anywhere it needed to go in order to make a pickup or delivery. Most of the time, I make it in & out just fine...one job in particular that ticked me off, I was on the soft path in just walking the dog in low gear and keeping everything moving. The contractor put his bulldozer in my path and stopped...so I had to stop...and then I was stuck. I had been in & out 3 other times before that with NO PROBLEMS...but the OTHER trucks kept getting stuck, so they just decided they'd pull everyone in & out. I didn't go back. I enjoy tricky sites...just not ####### contractors. A properly spec'd truck can make it through quite a bit that would bury a lesser truck.
