I haul fuel, and I know about how much my equipment weighs when i'm empty, does anyone know how much does gasoline and diesel weigh pounds per gallon? When I asked other drivers, I get different answers, anywhere from 6-8 on the gasoline and 7-9 lbs/gallon on diesel. And do you look at the gross or net gallons to figure out the weight of the load? Thanks

I think diesel fuel is 7. something. Rule of thumb is figure 8 lbs per gal. Gasoline is a hair above 8lbs, I think.

I've always figured it into my weight at 8 lbs. per gallon and that has worked out pretty well for me.

I've used 11lbs as a standard for diesel. I got that number from a fuel hauler in the 90's.

No it's the other way round.
    Gasoline is lighter than fuel.
gas is around 6lbs and diesel at 7lbs. I've loaded too many loads to mention and I had to cut a diesel load way back to stay legal. I hauled fuel in TX

    Did he look like this?

It was because he inhaled too many fumes, had brain damage and was way wrong.

Thanks for the answers. Do you figure the load out from the gross or net gallons from the rack ticket, or does that really matter?

Gasoline is supposedly 6.183 LBs / Gallon at 72'F and as it's density is effected by temperature change from 72'F COLDER = HEAVIER , WARMER = LIGHTER

Diesel I usually figure at average weight of 7.1 LBs / Gallon
