2) If you are making more as a company driver than you did as an 0/0 then not only is that VERY sad,but it's self explanatory as to what kind of a "bidness" man YOU are and your advice on those matters is a moot point..No points.

3) If any 0/0,big company owner,company driver or anyone else thinks that anyone else in this business is there friend when it comes to money they deserve the screwing that they get until they either fall by the wayside or smarten up.No points..a big boy or girl should already know that coming into this field.

4) As for running 80 mph and wasting fuel.Either set your truck up right or make the little bit of difference up.You'll average a half a load more every second turn around than some company driver whose choked down to 55 mph and blocking traffic.No points and I somehow sense jealously in this statement...could be wrong tho' and I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

5)As for the math/history/science or whatever lesson on "you can't spend more than you make"..All I can say is that statement is a masterpiece of the obvious.Take 1 point away.

6) As for the "big company drivers" not being at fault.If it wasn't for those folks working for Micky D's type wages for the "big companies" ,they couldn't keep the freight prices down to where it's a quantity,not quality price.Get real.Minus 1 point.

7) I have cut a lot of firewood and have found trees that easily bend to be soft,usually wormy and definately lacking in strong fiber.No point.

I've got a guy,my age,who lives the next farm over who inherited his dad's farm...ALWAYS at the coffee table and whining,tons of nice equipment,new trucks etc etc....So I checked his CRP record out of curiosity....$136,000 plus for subsidies and crp set asides FOR NOT FARMING!!! He's buying ground around here like it's going out of style.Super nice guy,but somehow he's kind of sickening to listen to.

Yea I know what you mean.The ones I am talking about all ways screwing other people like the ones who work for them or the ones they are doing work for.They too are buying up land and getting tax breaks on ag.even for small tracts in a subdivision.But thats is every where.

It is impossible to set up a truck to get good fuel mileage at 80 mph compared to 55 mph. Driving fast won't get you more loads or make you more money.

I don't have the smarts to explain it to you where it would make sense to you like it needs to be explained.If you really want the info,there's a site that will explain it to you,let me know and I'll PM a mod to see if I'm allowed to post it or not...I also didn't say it would get 'good' fuel mileage at 80.They ain't smart cars....I disagree strongly with you on the other comment.It's pretty simple to figure it out.Time,distance,speed......I've seen it proven time and time again and I've proven it in practice many times.And will again.Just the way it is.As far as it not making you more money?OK buddy,if you say so.

Maybe there are drivers that have runs where they need that kind of speed, but most drivers find that driving 80 mph means you just wait a little bit longer. Meanwhile, how much money are you throwing out the window in bad fuel economy?

1 Yes, you know more then I do about CRP then I do, does that make you feel better. LOL

2 I'm talking net money not gross. I made almost $500,000 in three years back in the early 1980's but I sure did not make that net. I made $63,000 take home with 17 weeks off last year. What did you make?

3 I hear more driver and O/O's make the comment everyday how they drank beer with their broker or dispatcher and then go on about how the broker could not pay them any more to haul a load because the shipper would not pay more. And the O/O's falls for this every time.

4 It's not how fast you go but how much you make per mile and keeping your expenses as low as possible. You know I used to be just as dumb once upon a time thinking that if I ran night and day and as fast as I could then I would make more money. Run day and night from New York to L.A. and get there at 3 in the afternoon and could not get unloaded until the next morning and then here comes that old slow truck driver that was in my way doing 55 and 60 mph pulling in and unloading right beside. I made some good time running 75 and 80 mph but we both ended up in the same spot at the same time. Who's the winner? If you get 6.5 mpg with your fast truck at 75 and I get 7.2 with a slow truck and we both run 3000 miles every week for a year at $2 per mile then you will have to run 1.7 weeks longer to make as much money as the slow truck. And this don't even include tire and brake wear that will be greater on the fast truck. And it will be a whole lot easier for the slow truck to maintain 60 mph then for you to maintain 75. After I slowed down I would leave NY City on Wednesday at noon for a delivery for Monday morning in L.A. but stop by the house and haul a short haul for a local company, sleep at home for a night or two then be in L.A. for Monday. Then unload beside the large car that set in a truck stop for 36 hours waiting to unload. Run smarter not harder.

5 If you own money on your truck and/or trailer then you just spend more money then you had. I think this is called common sense. If you had cash to pay for your equipment then why are you in a big hurry?

6 Back to net money versus gross. Are you clearing $40,000 to $60,000 a year for your own use? Oh yes, the old blame everybody else and it takes the blame off of you for hauling that cheap freight doesn't it. Wrong

7 Take your axe and hit a piece of old dry stick and see how easily it cuts and then hit a green stick that will bent. Why does CB antennas bent with the wind or when they hit a tree limb? Try buying a antenna that don't bent and see how long it will last.

As you can see I never keep score. I have ran both fast and hard and slow and steady and I have always made more money running slow and I like my job a whole lot better by taking my time. When I hear the large car driver cussing and yelling on the CB for the slow driver to get out of his way I feel so sorry for him that his is so ignorant like I once was. Have a great day.

I'm not sure how it works in other states but here in the Show me I was required to put trees on my CRP land. We had a nice range to chose from I personally went oak and maples but my land was on a thirty year hitch so plenty of time for them suckers to grow. I also have a much larger portion in a GRP program that doesn't require trees and allows me to still graze the land. There are some grass height requirements but they are very easy to work around.
