Check with your local to see if they offer Cdl training. If so It would cost you less than us newbies, about $3000 less. Then he can look into ups (he already works for) Yellow,Roadway,Usf holland and Readdy(not glen moore) Abf,new Penn motor Express,Penske truck leasing, DHL and Standard forwarding company. All Teamsters.

Red face

I had a Good day, alittle clustered with all the new students. They started off in the classroom watching videos while we did Alley Dock. After break we All were in the yard. They did 2 Lines of straight line backing we finished Alleydocking. My instructor asked how I was on air breaks I said good so he sent one of my classmates over to learn it. I then told him the entire procedure and he said well alright. It made me feel good to spill it out without hesitation and it showed them I'm ready. Talked to a few new guys welcomed them aboard and said I'd help if they wanted it. They asked about the pre trip and daily procedures so tomorrow I will (pay it forward ) show them how I do my pre trip. I paid for my Road Test and I'm waiting to get amy Date.

Today started out rocky, too many people in the way.People standing in the way when trying to do manuvers. Got called to office because I paid for my road test and they werent happy, they wanted to schedule it.As I told them when the end of Feb comes I have no more unemployment and Needed to pay now! Also, I cant stay here. Too many people,I need road time and feel I'm getting pushed to the side. I'm waiting to get out of here and people come to me for manuvers, pre trip and airbrakes info.aaaaaaahhhhh thanks I needed that! In the afternoon I got some road time in a different truck,The Freightliner. No one likes it because the clutch is too jumpy but when I took it out the shifting was GREAT. IT MADE MY DAY. NOW I NEED TO SEE IF IT CONTINUES THE REST OF THE WEEK! I was told I might go next week if my road evals are good. After my road driving I asked what I needed to work on he said just focus on manuvers you did just fine. If you mess up air brake test automatic fail.If you mess up manuvers (21 points you fail, hit cone on right hand turn you fail entire test) Heres hoping for to ride all week. I was alittle pissy today because the one draem job I want I cant get because I chose this school over NETTS.(most of the time I'm glad i chose this schoolbut not getting interview for that dream job and waiting around for road time, I could of done that at NETTS and gotten the interview) Alittle heart broken

Hang in there BD, by the tone of your comments, you're just itching to get on the road-I don't blame you. When I went through the training I forced the issue and drove nights and Saturdays to get as much experience and as fast as possible. The instructors wanted me to know how to pass the exam and I wanted to know everything and every piece of equipment they had to offer.

Once you get your CDL it's your ticket (pardon the pun) to your future, an investment in yourself. If possible and if they have the equipment, get behind the wheel of different rigs pull different trailers too. The more you know, the more you can do for someone, which makes you valuable.

I worked with some guys who would only run one type of equipment like Excavator operators who refuse to run a backhoe for example, they thought that running the "Little Iron" was beneath them.

A job is a job and money is money.

Got out on the road today. Todays in a row.I was told I'm doing good. Its tight in the yard now but we'll manage. Its stressful but I just need to let the instructors know I know my stuff and I'm ready to go. Tomorrow I will try to get 1 of the instructors to listen to my pretrip and air brake procedure. Hope I go next week.
