I agree with you Lat, but then again, what are they going to do? If PTS is a wounded duck, this might kill it. On the flip side, from a couple of people I talk with, sounds like the union was restructing some work rules to make it easier for companies to get some backhaul business and increase profitability. Now, as far as wages, there are lots of guys in carhaul making good $$ union, or not. So, where is the justification for the cuts. Jack Cooper and Cassens seem to be doing fine. PTS and ALLIED are like any number of businesses that seem to want to blame everything on the union and gloss over the fact that maybe they have some poor business practices. Anyway, I hope they can settle this soon. I wonder though, how much of a pay cut the execs are going to take?

You can bet that his wages won't get cut in the bankruptcy court proceedings.

Whack 50% to 75% of his yrly salary for 2 yrs.......... he won't notice the lack of take home pay, or at the very least he won't notice a reduction in his quality of life.

Unlike whacking 15% of the driver's wage.

Yeah, a little simple math shows if he paid the first $500 of each employee pay cut, he would still be making 6 million. I don't understand the mentality of giving a guy such a huge wage, when the company is in the crapper. Why not give him the big payday when he can turn things around? Oh yeah, that would make sense. If PTS thinks things are bad now, lets see how they are without drivers to make them $$.

Union Has Offered to Meet With Company on Thursday, June 12
6/11/08
Quote:
In PTS’s June 10th letter to TNATINC Co-Chairman Fred Zuckerman, PTS’s President Jeffrey Cornish stated that PTS was prepared to meet with the union anytime, anywhere to discuss the present situation.
Zuckerman responded soon after receiving Cornish’s letter (see letter below) and advised PTS that “without a waiver by TNATINC of its rights under Article 21, or any other provision of the NMATA and applicable law, TNATINC is available to meet with you on Thursday, June 12th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Cleveland city Centre to hear your presentation of the matters raised in your June 10th letter.”
As of noon today, Teamster carhaul negotiators were still waiting to hear from PTS.

The union is continuing the strike against PTS in the meantime. Cornish, in a letter dated June 10, had asked that the union end the strike until the meeting takes place, although Cornish stated that ending the strike was not a condition to having the meeting.
