I'll answer that question and it's got nothing to do with Unions, other than Union members have a union to protect and speak up for their interests... Hoffa wants protection for the pensions because the banks and financial institutions have absorbed and created and added so much debt, in their GREED to add to their 6&7 figure incomes, ALL pensions in this country are now endangered, as are all IRA's and other retirement savings.

The operations manager for GM said 10 years ago that the number one reason for moving plants to mexico was slack environmental laws...

Building cars is a dirty biz - and not having to pay EPA tariffs and watch waste water and solid accum. saves a lot more than you would think.

If the Goverment protects Union pensions they should protect all pensions or none at all.Putting retirement funds in the stock market is like playing dice.As long as they dont use tax money to protect it.
And why hasnt it got something to do with union?? Hoffa would not be involved if it was non union.BTW I thought the unions wanted the Goverment to stay out of their bussiness????

You don't have a problem with all of our good jobs going there? What about when they come here and drive your truck?
