Isn't that what you are doing. I mean don't you drive for an otr company. Didn't you leave knight and go to crete or another company. How is your pay and what do you get for benefits. Do you have a home life or are you on the road for weeks at a time. Does your pay equal that of a union or well paid driver. Tell me what company you work for. I would love to look them up.

we have 8 new guys coming on tomorrow - dunno how many have been drivers before...
When I look on the website, it always says they want a year of experience. So is this something where u just have to go down to the terminal and apply or call and speak to someone? Please advise....

just apply online - applications are not taken at any YRC terminals - and most other union freight companies do not take "paper applications"

ABF has a school for NEW new drivers - and we (roadway) hire those from accredited schools.

Are you more stable driving for OTR company or a Union Company?

Union trucking jobs - and more importantly Union trucking companies are more stable.


Union truckers typically stay with their jobs until they retire -

Union truckers do not jump from one company to another - because there is no need to.


since dereg - A driver starting his career at a Union company will be 33 times more likely to be driving in 20 years than a non union driver...

also a driver joining the Teamsters at a young age (i.e. 25) will make 3 to 4 times more than a non union driver over the course of their driving careers.


Something to think about - when looking to change over...


(I know a few guys in their mid 20's making well over 80K - and home 3-5 nights a week... do you think they could do that working for Swift?)

Thos BIG letters hurt my eye balls, LOL
If Roadway didnt merge (or even the other outfits) where would they be? You probably wouldnt have your job..?? The day will come when only a few (like UPS, FED EX) will put Roadway out, or even another non Union carrier. Enjoy your pay and bennies now while you have it. I watched a show the other night and were talking to retired Union workers with good pensions etc.. and some were not recieving anything or very little because there Union didnt really put the money away for the employee but reinvested it into there own company! For your benefit I hope this doesnt happen, and if something did happen to your company (go out of business) would your pension money and benefits still be there for you?

when did we merge? and with who?

and the stories of pension woes had nothing to do with the teamsters.

thge teamsters are a union - not the only one....

I drive for Crete making more money now then I ever have. Benefits are the same as any other OTR trucking company. But most important, Im doing something I like. Alot of Union workers arent happy and the only come back they have is, how much do you make? Good Luck

The amount of Teamster pensions that are severely underfunded is common knowledge.

Better get out while you can get something from it.
